I'm also looking for a blonde. Preferably one with long legs and can cook.
Had a look at it last night. Better than I thought after a quick rub with a belt sander. 3 areas of note, wear at the back (no issue to me), then a gouge in the middle which would be repaired but still leaves plenty of room in front where it's a lot flatter, and a chunk out of the bick which could also be repaired. The key thing is it's pretty flat between the bick and the gouge which is a large enough area for me to bash tin on.
Overall I'm happy with it. Considering the age and use it's had I think it's fine. And since I'm not a watchmaker (more of a pig iron botherer) it'll do nicely for me and means I can retire the old damaged vice and replace it with something better.
Now to get the rest of that paint off. That bothers me more than the damage. At least the damage is from honest work.

Thanks for the offer, I will have a think. Its the pallet both ways that will kill it for me! I have to go down your way towards the end of the year so if you are up for something then I will most likely be interested. That big one in the second pic is very clean. Like new!

Looks a lot better now than in the photo with the damage covered up. The most important thing is it still has a hard plate on top!
Difficult to imagine how you could develop damage like that, probably welding on and chipping off. Slot at the back is either deliberate or someone used it as backing for cutting up stuff with a disk grinder. Looks a bit too neat for that but really shouldn't matter. Be interesting to do bounce test tho...

Yeah it probably be easier putting it in the car where about ar u from. Am form Lanarkshire yeah it’s a large Peter Wright very clean but still heavy. Av still to get it on the scales
