^^ I like that, but would be concerned the angle grinder(s) storage would mark the welder casing.

the closest I have come to a trolley is sticking the gas bottle on a sack truck,with the aid of mini ratchet strap,so welder is easier to manouvere(?).....!

Got a bit of welding done today, main unit is all welded and spigot machined and welded in place for SWF.
Still have to make up a wheeled base for it, the base will be more or less the same shape and I will be able to pull a couple of pins out and lift the welder/trolley body into the car.
Also have a few other bits and pieces to do but hopefully it will be functional enough to start using in a day or two.

Long time lurker on the forums. Just started welding and decided it was time to join. After sticking plenty of bits of scrap together decided my first proper project would be a welding cart. Bit more done to mine tonight.
Got the rear axle machined and welded up then bolted to the base, also got the front castors bolted on.
I welded a couple of pieces of angle on the sides in front of the rear wheels to act as a location for the upper trolley section.
I still have to put a couple of locating pins at the front which will have R Clips so that the two halves can quickly be separated for when I put it in the car.
I also have to make up some fixing brackets that will slot into the welders feet, they have a groove for that, which will hold the welder rigid to the trolley. I also have some edging strip coming that will hopefully protect the welders case when, on the odd occasion, I take it out of the trolley.

Tapped a hole M8 at either side on the front feed of the wheeled base and bored a hole out to 9mm on the upper sections base and used wing nuts to secure them both together. I will probably cut slots to the back of the foot so that I just have to slacken the wing nuts partially to separate the two parts for putting into the car.
I was looking more at the volvo (possibly 240 estate??) In the back ground.
Also @Hood that does look awesome there bud. Some real nice work there. Do you have a plasma also for cutting the pieces etc?
Have always thought about a little one for ease.
Yes, finished my CNC Plasma table almost 18 months ago now, don't know how I ever did without it.

Not that hard to make and can be done relatively cheaply especially if you go for the ball bearing type of rails rather than the profile rails I have. I got them free, in fact it was because I got the rails and the rack/pinion that I decided to build a plasma as I needed to use them on something

Well the welder trolley got its first test today as it is the first time I have been welding round at a boat and thus transporting it in the car.
Took some pics of the return to the workshop.
Car is a bit full but the trolley minus the wheel section provides a nice stable base for the power unit.
Wheel section ready for the upper section to be lifted onto.
Upper section, wire feed unit and cables all ready to wheel into the workshop.
Back home in its parking spot in the workshop.
One snag was the cassies enroute to my workshop are very rough and the wing nuts holding the base to upper unit are not really sufficient, the base slipped out a couple of times when the wheels got stuck in the cassies. The solution will be to put an additional pin at the front with an R Clip, that was my original plan but I decided to go for bolts with wing nuts and a slot to slide the bolts into, apart from that though everything worked as it should
