I find having two grinders, one wearing a flap disc the other a cutting disc makes like easier.

Like a few on here, I have three - cutting, grinding and flap disc.

Hello to all,
I am new on the forum but have been reading a LOT on here. Loads of great info here, thanks to all contributors.
I have started my first project after getting my new MIG welder, a small welder cart. I learned oxy-acetylene, and arc welding many years ago at college, but never got into MIG.
Pictures below - the only pretty welds are on the underneath! The ones where a flat plate will go I have ground down. The internal corners I made a complete **** of and am not sure where I went wrong (no crackle, glowing wire, balled up wire). Too much gas?
My next project is some railings for the back door stairs (with bought wrought iron inserts).
Any comments or suggestions on how to improve welcome.
(Some of the pictures look a bit weird in the preview, like only half of them is there....) hopefully they post OK.

Little update, progress has been slow due to windy conditions, but I've a few small things - the Devil is in the detail.......

First up, chain links plug welded to hold bottle-securing chain

Seem to do the job......

Then cable and torch holders, one on one side, two on the other

Then, just the castors and handle to organise and I can get on with priming and painting, and getting the shelves organised.

Suggestions for final colour? I'm thinking black or good old Fergie Grey........

Good thinking, and I did post in another thread that all machines should be Fergie grey.

@Burdekin : That did you use on the drill? I've done an eBay trawl for Fergie grey but they al sell min 1 litre which would be far too much for my needs. Got a link to where you bought that shade [looks a little lighter than the Fergie one?]

I used grey Penguard HB but it doesn't come in small sizes, 5 l min: https://www.smlmarinepaints.co.uk/primers/penguard-hb

But this is the same paint but is more expensive, smallest quantity is 1l: http://www.rust.co.uk/custom-421-rust-proofing-primer/c32736/

Lechler epoxy is a nicer paint to apply: http://www.express-paints.co.uk/epoxy-primer-29107/ don't forget the hardener. All of the epoxies will go on better when thinned.

With epoxy no need to over coat unless you're leaving it outside as UV light will make it chalk up. The Penguard HB is a flat paint, if you want a semi gloss probably best to go for a Jotamastic paint.

I omitted to say I'd be brush applying [don't think my small compressor'd be up for it, and I've only used rattle cans in the past with limited [read.....useless ] results so confidence is low when it comes to spraying.

May I ask how you intend to fit a new reel of wire?

It looks like it maybe an awkward and irksome task, especially if it is a 15kg reel of wire you are loading up.

Enamel paint is pretty good for a single pack paint. Will come up quite nice with a small roller rather than a brush.

All in good time - I'm a rank learner, the trolley is my first project.

May I ask how you intend to fit a new reel of wire?

That's not my trolley, my welder will sit on the top shelf which has been made wide enough for easy access. That's better looking than mine 'though.

Whats wrong with a bit of designer rust, quite trendy in the bike world, they call it rustic patina or summat.

If im just trying to paint something to stop the rust, i usually just use the cheap metal paint on the shelf in band q next to the hammerrite. Foam roller, slop it on chuck the roller.

Not sure id actually call mine painting, more like slap it on. With hammerrite either thin it with their thinners or warm the tin up goes on much better
