@Barking Mat
Why didn't you walk out with a few extra cans of "Floaty Boaty"?

Looks rude to me.After putting up with an ever more difficult to get hot water system, I finally plucked up the courage to attack my boiler.
Could this have been the reason, I wonder?

A little bit of crud, but nothing too serious.

What a bugger to work on, Ravenheat HE120. The heat exchanger was also removed and plonked in some 45% phosphoric acid, as were the diverter parts. Were there any leaks. Of course there was. The most inaccessible nut, which is on the DHW HE has a very slow weep. It can put up with it, I'm not stripping the bugger again. The whole days efforts were not helped by the fact that Ravenheat supplied mostly the wrong sealing washers, despite having their model number, the serial number, and the GC number. Also a reminder from me that this was an early mishmash of parts from a couple of other ranges. Useless tw**ts.
How would you know that?Looks rude to me.
(Looks like something from a sex catalogue).
Probably just me.
Must stop posting after a few drinks, but why change habits of a lifetime ?

I used to find even with the good stuff like Came, BPT and the likes it didnt matter how many training courses you went on but at crunch time there always seemed to be something missing in the set up manuals to make you look like you dont know what your doing!!Bet your language was not as bad as 2 of our lads fitting electric gates looked the same as instructions spent 3 hours trying to program with alarm connections and phone it worked but not as programed after being told they were thick I tried, it did something different ( much laughter and rude comments) rang supplier to be told tech go home at 1600bst it is now 1605 on a Friday call again Monday. (even more laughter)
Monday arrives to be told sorry instructions for an older software version of same unit,
Ardy , what do you used to clean up NIMH battery connector plates & springs where a battery has been left in discharged , leaks & corroded them and any brass work in the area ? . I'm thinking of using a super saturated solution of dissolved washing soda , cotton bud it on, leave for 5 seconds or so , agitate gently then very carefully spray wash it out/off whilst I've got the Aquavax sucking the contaminated water away .View attachment 354769
Tidy Tie iron. But I knew it needed some TLC.

Fixing the handle correctly. Not with some glue.
Made up some pins from some brass bolts. Silver soldered into place. Open the holes up and fitted the handle frame with nuts.

Remove, clean and fix the handle. I saved the saw dust. Mixed it with quick 2 pack glue. Filled the splits. Sanded and polished with light brown (tea) french polish.
Then make a bit of wood look good to show it of on.
