Same engine as the Zafara!
The inlet manifold on mine was almost full of carbon build up, the swirl flap ball joint had popped off as they had seized and the EGR valve was knackered again

The last I saw of it after part exchanging it...
Probably doing the rounds as a minicab in Bradford with all the emission controls deleted!

Well, as a concession to the three heart attacks, Gareth loaded the Genset onto the pickup with the forktruck before we set off on todays adventure, we were going to be On location again. Now who wouldn't want to get themselves out into the open countryside and to a lovely cricket pitch on this fine sunny Monday? Engaging in a bit of exercise:



These are frames for the white boards to be rolled behind the wickets, making the ball visible, I think the word @Tinbasherdan likes to use is "Shonky"



As you can see. unable to move them as they are such shoddy construction they bent in the middle making them impossible to push about:





We had made up some strengthening beams as the "axles" were 4mm channel
For those that like to know, a five year old 4Ah battery can drill 11x17mm holes before it starts going



Job done and as long as they are not abused they will be fine. Would have likely worked out cheaper if they had asked us to build them from the beginning insted of buying some sort of DIY kit from China, or if not from China, from some third rate outfit.

I fixed up the firepit today, easter's coming and our tradition is to have easter bonfires. I had to make a path to it first.

I didn't.

The lady who asked me if it couild be saved had good reasons.
It was her Grandfather, who all but raised her. She had a picture of her and him. She is holding that same hammer, she looks about to be 3 years old.

I didn't save it.
She did. I made tea and coffee and gave tips on what was best to do.

The "stuff" lhs of the wedge is wax.

As she recalls it, but with a safe head now. Cleaned,polished and waxed.

I have had this lighter for a whille now, waiting it's turn to be fixed.

The issue I had was I could not get it to part.

This was how far I could get it, The orther working parts were seized.

So last week I wraped it in sewing machine oil soaked rags. Sealed it into 3 plastic bags and kept it in my pocket.

I now could cleaned the oil off, as well as the crud and get to the flint tube.

A new wick, new wadding as well.

A working lighter.

Of the the bar, got to see if @mike os is still flamable.

I’ve just fixed the squeak from the serpentine belt on our Transit camper. I had the air con refilled the other day ready for a trip to France & Spain & there was a squeak from the belt under load. I decided to change the idler & tensioner while about it as well as the belt as it’s done 90 odd thousand miles. The tensioner is £350 from Ford. What a pig to change, cut down bits of Allen keys fitted in a ratchet spanner. No wonder it’s so expensive, no-one ever changes them! The designer wants reaming with a rotating pineapple, there is no room at all.

Joys of farm ownership...
We have a sprayerwith really long booms. The previous owner made it and the arms fold out, then fold out again. Great for covering a lot of paddock at once, not so good when you get close to a fence or a lump in the ground. The ends fold back, but it doens't always work



After a few hits, the arm got bent enough that the spray nozzles started leaking to much to cope with. The arm was buckled, and the reinforcing

Cut through the buckled area, pulled it straight then welded some 100*5mm flat steel either side and gave everythgin a coat of zinc paint
My supervisors approve.

My easter project. My parents had a New Zealand made Hansa chipper as there is a big garden (3 acres, plus 1/4 acre up the driveway). It will munch anything fed in the shute - branches, losing mafia wiseguys, people who don't pay their bills, etc.
It never got used much as the pull start Briggs and Stratton (******** and scrapem) motor was always a sod to start. I used it a few times, but it always invoved much cursing, and my wife could never use it as the pull start was to much for her anyway. After the last time, I had enough, and decided to repalce the motor with a Chonda with electric start. Even with pull start on th enew motor, it starts so much easier, and electric means the wife can start it.


I got a motor before the long weekend. However I didn't check the motor bolt spacing, and it was just different enough that the existing holes couldn't be made to fit. I drilled and tapped a piece of 12mm steel plate as a new mount, welded it on. This lifts up the motor centre line so I now need to adjust the belt guide so it doesn't rub.
Todays job was making the battery holder, which slides into the box section frame of the motor mount, so it can be removed to make motor access easier.
Would have been up and running for a test run except muggins here broke the pulley trying to get it off the old motor.

This odd container came my way, this is after I ahd dusted it off.

4 glass hip flasks.

You can just see the residue in the bottles. I have no idea what it was. But the remains had all but glued the caps in place.

Even the protection inserts were stuck.

Holding the caps in hot water, for about 5 mins. Had them loose enough to be removed.

Cleaned, loose caps glued and the leather given a good feed.
