The otherday my French Calk pot died. The plastic finaly had to many cracks and to much tape holding it together.
So I made this, from some unknown hard wood.
The finish is Bee's wax, fed on Pollen from a apple tree's
The top, is a bit tight, bit it will ease with use.

I have been wood bothering, carp and try.
Wood is really not my strong point, but hey, doesn't stop me.
Two old Breton doors from a wardrobe, have become doors to the futility room.
It's a work in progress..
Some point last year I bought a 9" grinder with a diamond concrete grinding disk thing, does it's job very well, very agressive.

I made a bit of progress in the boiler-room over the last few days. First add one-wire sensors to the boiler flow and return, and at several points on each heat store. Once its all working I'll cable tie all the cables in.
Then I need to add a sensor to this
here's the inside
I drilled a 4mm hole in the top and dropped a cable through with a laser distance sensor on the end of it. I forgot to take pictures but its in a tiny plastic box that I printed. The box is stuck to the underside of the fixed portion with a magnet.
All the cables end up here. A 5 port managed Ethernet switch, a raspberry pi and 5v PSU. I will be adding one more pi that I found in the drawer, they seem to multiply.
And after a bit of jiggery pokery, the data ends up here. The pellet hopper doesn't empty gracefully, there's two holes in the base that you can see the auger through, so you get pellets tumbling down slopes into the pits above the augers, hence why it goes back up a mm occasionally but the trend is downwards. its only been going for an hour. You can mess with the field of measurement, so I may tinker with that at some point.
Once the boiler halts because its run out of pellets, I'll baseline that as empty, add a 15kg bag of pellets, measure that etc etc until its full. the I'll mess with the graph again, I may make it into a gauge instead of a line. Also gives me chance to get any clinker out of the boiler and give it a good clean,
Heat store 2 isn't doing or reporting what it should. The store's temperatures should stratify like heat store 1. Its probably probe placement i.e. near the flow or return pipe, or a faulty probe. I'll check that out tomorrow before tidying the cabling. the second pi will be used to collect temperatures from the DHW and the upstairs and downstairs flow and return from the mixing valves and I may add another probe to each heat store, each pi has 8 one-wire buses so may as well use them.
Yes, I know, I should get out more, but I'm on a diet and virtually on the wagon so fills the space where fun used to be

I raised up the step with hydrofuge cement, then wifie found these doors, said they were a perfect fit, which they pretty much are, so the raised cement step got ground down a good 20 - 30 mm, to fit them, that's the shadow of the raised bit I did, I'll redo the raised step, probably tomorrow.
Had problems matching the ancient hinges, as I had the bits in the doors, but nothing else.
Found some weld on gate hinges which kind of corresponded.
So I welded them to the wooden doorframe. Not...

I had a play with the Centec and made a crank retaining bar for the Land Rover.
Finished the backplate for my new rotary table I have been working on for a couple of weeks now,allows me to use my existing lathe 80mm chucks with it.
Will not be turning anything this wide on a mini lathe again until I do a treadmill motor swap... Overload tripped so much that I turned up the pot which controls the current and it now has a little more grunt before it trips
Started off as a bit of 15mm plate which I crudely took an angle grinder to in order to hold it in the 4 jaw without relying on a single thread to hold each jaw
Next I turned down the 55mm chuck reference spigot.
Then flipped it and did the OD before starting on the table side 13.8mm spigot.
Allen key happened to perfectly wedge in the spindle nut which made a nice little diy 4 position indexer lol

Table spigot side was almost impossible to measure.
Then made 4 little tabs to clamp the plate down to the table.
Next I used the table to spot each hole for the chuck before drilling it (not bolted at the time lol)
Then cleaned up the grinder slots as I couldn't leave it looks like a chew toy. Yes they're not perfectly aligned or all exactly the same but it's not spinning at several thousand rpm so won't matter.
And last task was to countersink the table side so the chuck retaining bolts wouldn't interfere.
