Bet it was lovely to do with the rear tub removed.

Always had to struggle doing with minimal dis-assembly.

ive done this fitting gates on a farm had to fit 4"x 12 oak beams in ground then fix the gates to them they wanted to use the electric wood poles but we hadnt the use of a digger or the other tool to make it easier

first gate is in pic to right the other is in the middle im sat against the wall on the third one
2nd pic the distance had to walk with all materials and shows all 3 gates

remove the wall blocks as loose and rebuild them with new posts and new wall block walls



with child in background advised better to get rid of the 4 steps and make a hole through the blocks to the grass mrs liked the idea and loved crossing the back of caravan for putting washing out all the time level flags they didnt want 2 extra posts so stuck with one post build where the old steps used to be



owner washed them when i finished off at night so now they want cleaning off with acid people will mess

test brick was to check if they could get away with just pointing it i advised it but also advised take wall down and rebuild it back up as pointing is no guarantee it would work oh and the person broke my old bolster chisel when he borrowed it

Final bits of this done in the blaster, now to get it home and into paint. It’s about 100 years old and still looks great!

Yeah they always do, the Record one came up amazingly. I prefer paint though - it’s in primer as we speak. Should turn out to be a nice little vice, got some scrap Rimu timber for new jaws today and some new old stock short countersunk screws. Should be a goody when done.

This one is an original design or rather, not inspired by anything I have seen. It sort of "made itself" when I got given some bits of sleeper.

I'm very pleased with it because it is so simple and works so well...

its a smithys swage block equipment used in forging or smithy workshop strong at that

It is a cast iron or cast steel rectangular block having a number of holes in it. Holes are made in different sizes and shapes. Its outer sides are also made in sectional forms to receive various types of jobs. It is always plane on a cast iron frame.

It's basically a specialist type of anvil. If you weren't in Ireland, I'd be over there like a shot!
