It's basically a specialist type of anvil. If you weren't in Ireland, I'd be over there like a shot!

I know the owner of the yard and he told me the anvil came from one of those guards houses you see at level crossings. According to him it was sent over from England when the railways were being built here. It's a few months since I saw it, but if I remember correctly it was sitting on a cast iron plinth. Now for the bad news - he said he wanted 2000 euros for it. I'll try and take a few photos of it if it's still there.
How much is it really worth?
