Designed/drawn, fabbed and erected by us. Main entrance lobby stair to a 13 storey hotel conversion.
Tight access so all the stairs made in pieces. Fair play to the 3 lads that put it up, done and dusted in a day and a half.

Yep. Kind of why I wasn't fussed on buying one whereas I have a load of steel that work threw out coupled with my skip diving so it's cost nothing apart from wire and gas so far. I'm hoping it won't be needed as I'll have another vehicle with me and I've now got three locking diffs in the 110 and each vehicle has a winch. Most of the start has trees available so that shouldn't be too bad.
Made most of the arm this evening before I took the dogs out. Need to make some bits for shackles and then a lick of paint and job done.

Yep locking diffs make a big difference as does tyre choice were is it you are heading to

My two cents worth. Got 'Elsa' out on site with me, got her setup and she must earn her keep. Line boring on the steering hitch
Wanted to use my single phase Essetti mig but no good single phase supply, so out comes 'Francis's' little sister and she went ok welding the bores.

This is a fair lump of a thing, just mt truck for comparison. I thought I would be here for two days
. No chance everything need doing, will be here for at least 4 days

Decided I needed an apron for womancave projects, so knocked this together this afternoon. It’s made of lovely 1mm soft leather, and rough dyed Spanish Brown to give it a ‘lived in’ look. Two pockets to hold ‘stuff’, and finally given a good coating of Aussie conditioner to finish off.

Got handed in a slightly worn wear cover for a hauler knife and a similarly worn rope deflector.
Normally I would say that the knife cover was too far gone and make a new one but I didn't have any suitable thickness of stainless, the ones I make are thicker. I wasn't sure whether it would have fitted being thicker so I decided to have a go at welding it up.
Front welded up, looks messy but that doesn't matter as it gets ground down.
Flipped it over and welded the mess on the back where the hole had been and then ground off both front and back and both sides. Took a while but it came out ok. It looks twisted in the pic for some reason but it is not.
Rope deflector was easy enough, filled it up and ground off the back flush but left extra thickness on the front.
Next is was onto making a couple of battery boxes, the originals were now too short due to higher batteries being used. One box is for a single battery the other is double.

That's really nice. I need a shop apron to keep the swarf/cutting oil/weld sparks off my clothes. Overalls are ok but they are cumbersome to remove (and invariably pick up swarf off the floor when I'm stepping out of them).
