Thanks. The black one is my Singer 29K, which must be 103 years old now, and still going strong. The grubby white one is a Juki. I got stung buying that, and the seller sent up a piece of junk, comprising of missing and broken parts. I rebuilt it myself, so not perfect, but it now does the job.

Nearly forgot my Tippman Boss, hand cranked, and will stitch a silly thickness of leather. Don’t use it much, but a very usefull tool.

That's really nice. I need a shop apron to keep the swarf/cutting oil/weld sparks off my clothes. Overalls are ok but they are cumbersome to remove (and invariably pick up swarf off the floor when I'm stepping out of them).

I came late to the concept of aprons (channeling Victoria Wood today), but way easier to bung on and off than full blown overals. After all, if you walk into your workshop just to get something, then get envagelled..... before you know it, you’re covered in something or other.

Best stuff in the world to treat leather with. It’s a mixture of waxes and natural oils, which feeds and protects leather.

And they don’t even send me a free tub of the stuff for telling you this.

Today I made live tooling for my lathe.

I wanted slots cut down the length of a thread to make a tap, for some reason I forgot about the milling machine in the corner.

I've done similar by dressing a wheel to 60 degrees and using it to chase a hardened thread. Normally you put a rag over the bed to catch the dust off the grinding disc.

I've been thinking along the same lines recently, and I'm wondering if one of those brown coat things that Arkwright wore would be any good? The sort of thing that your old style metalwork teacher at school had...

I used to have one of those. It was very useful and much handier to take on / off than ovvies. I've had a succession of them over the years, from white lab coats, to brown ones and blue ones. I might get another one, as my ovvies tend to get left on the peg, whereas that's on in a second.

Today I have turned a smaller pulley for the mini mill to try and snow it down a bit it's made from some aluminium I had laying around

Great idea, I've spent hours sharpening my dad's old chistles on the oil stone as they were so far off! That would take them down to where I want them with only a quick blast on the oil stone to finish.
I love the patterns in your stone I bet they aren't cheap!

An axe doesn’t need a perfectly honed edge to work, I’m sure you know this.

........................ But I too have a water stone sharpening stone, it’s great fun to put razor blade edges onto tools.

I do everything free hand, including kitchen knives
