ooooo could you explain how to work out how to make a cone please as i would like to make some but have no idea how to work out the raduis and bend spacings so you can get the reduction right from one end to the other.

That's a posh name I think we called it developing a cone in the Tech drawing lessons back in 1963 ready for when I started doing light metal & sheet metal work at school.

It's a moving in prezzie for a mate who likes all thing rough and ready.
I think it would look better if the shine was taken off but they like it the way it is.

And that is why I prefer metal to wood, you cockup with wood and it's firewood, with metal you just weld it back together and try again.

I have an app on my phone called flat pattern that can be used to do stuff like that.

I looked at that (on the tablet) but it seemed to want you to d/load a 'parent' site with games etc so on it (and problem ads too?)?

It does have adds but it's just a pic will come up inbetween steps and you just continue on it's not bad for adds as free apps go and it's not very intrusive to using it. It's so handy it's worth putting up with a few adds.

Looks like you can buy the ad free version for £4.29, not bad if it is something you use.

Today I made a workshop proof manual for my new welder.
Printed out the pdf, laminated the pages then punched them. Punch has one die missing so only 3 holes Was going to punch the 4th by manually placing the pages in the appropriate position in the punch but decided not to bother for now.
Went to put in a ring binder but thought I would try some cable ties instead and it seems like it is working well.

Well the wee tool I made the last day worked perfectly.
I removed the pins from a plug with it, it compresses the tangs and allows you to pull the terminal out.

Then I crimped on new pins to the wires of the Parker Push-Pull torch.

Put them, hopefully, into the right positions.

Job done, test tomorrow.

Made a hole in a 40` container ready for a roller shutter, got two of them positioned and where they are there wont be any access to the normal doors so both will have roller shutters. Also managed to get some racking erected, need to think about lighting now as its a bit dingy in there.

Trimmed down a length of 100x50 x3mm box to make a bit of angle x2 that fits the containers corrugations to give me a flat surface to bolt the shutter guides/motor to.
