I liked flash gordon movie, so bad it turned good again. Max Von Sydow played Ming. I remember him from that and the swedish movies "The Emigrants" and "The New Land" about a swedish family who emigrated to Minnesota, good movies, as were the books, kinda melancholy.

The radios are about 20ft away from that, in the other room. Reason I made the power supply shelf on this was because of the noisy fan in the ex-server room PSU I got years ago. Remote mounting makes it quiet Simply sitting in the relatively enclosed space of the lower shelf quitens it down a lot more, and I can build a baffle box for it to sit in, later. The other PSU next to it is of a later server generation and twice the output for half the size, and it's nearly silent as is.

No welding on this one just a few rivets, its an air duct intake for an underground plant room, material was supplied by the customer, 0.6mm colour coated steel, very thin and sharp and drew blood a couple of times during the job.

And a few louvered vents knocked out on the flypress, these have a dutch fold all round to take off the sharp edges.

Got most of a Hesston bale lifter welded up today. Main beam is 100x6 SHS, headstock is 100x5 SHS with a wee bit of 100x50x4 RHS as a brace.
Been meaning to get one done for a few months now but since I'm being threatened with shifting 1300 of the damned things I thought I'd better get to it.
Bit of a marathon due to a sore back (which I'm blaming for some of the ugly welds. Not easy to do nice welds when you can hardly move )

Having made my own dismantler four or so years ago out of a bit of scrap six inch I girder, some scaffold tube for the fulcrum and a 20 mm steel bar for the handle

I found that on a lot of pallets that have three or more bottom bearers it's best to give the middle joints a gentle tweak to loosen them slightly first, especially if collated annular resin coated nails have been used out of a high speed nailer .

Can you dismantle a pallet with 120x 120 mm wide bearers ?

Sandblasted the heavily chipped japanning off this and treated it to some appropriately named ‘Ming Blue’. Everyone has black planes and I fancied something to give a bit of ‘pop’ when I use it. Now to find a plane to steal the handles from (I have the frog and cutters)

Make your front handle and rear handle out of beech/ maple or a similar hard wood its not as difficult as you'd imagine .. make a trial one out of soft pine first so you can understand how to do it

No. As is, the gap between angles is 54mm. If I reverse the angles then a little more. First attempt at this, tbh I made it on the fly from gut feel and instinct, very little thought went into it!

I must have a look at what the biggest "standard" pallet bear is....is it 120mm? Then I can get on with the MK2 maybe!

MkIVa is revised for cheapness and ease of manufacture, and still sells like icecubes in the Sahara
MkV sees the owner sell up to a conglomerate and retires to the Bahamas.
MkVI is too cut-about by the new owners and sales fall off a cliff
MkX is a copy of the MkIV, brought out by a group of previous employees, working together out of their sheds.

Funnily enough, the sought-after ones are the MkIIIs and early IVs as they were much better made and change hands for silly money.

As you may know I don’t much like doing things by half... so as the tommy bar on my big Record 53 was bent (twice) I needed to find a solution.

I tried bending with a Record 25 but it sprung back. Today I used oxy acetylene and heated it, then clamped it in another vice. This did the trick nicely! Three bends later and it is now acceptably straight once more. The before pic shows the very subtle bend. Happy
