More sandblasting done. The workshop at uni will be shut for two weeks (holiday) so I rushed to do this lump today.

This is the second of two wood vices I’m restoring - I have a Record 52 already cleaned and repainted and this is the massive 53. I think it came from a farm as it was covered in mud and straw when I got it. As you can see it’s quite rusty before but it’s a rare-ish model and will be amazing on the new bench. Steel sliders polished up then wrapped in tape for priming with aerosol. I like to get that blasted iron back into paint as soon as possible. This vice is what the above buttress screw fits into. I’m rather pleased, this year I have cleaned three vices in the sandblaster!

I am going a bit steampunk on my hot rod, so I have started accruing bits of brass, copper rivets etc. Fingers crossed it comes out looking somewhere decent.

I have a little Record 0110 block plane which needs a refurb... the rough, chipped paint and shabby steel is growing on me though...

No separate thread buddy, I just decided last week I would buy one instead of build one ( if something is worth waiting for.... I want it now ) The company is R Tech Welding here in the UK (support home grown UK companies) as for why ? well I make fire pits for a hobby and up till now I have been farming the plasma work out. This way I can design what I want in the way of "one offs" and keep the price down a bit.

there are a few vids to show what the machine can do. They can supply tables from 2x2 up to 8x4 I believe. The service and advice is excellent

Stripped, cleaned, painted and serviced. I bought it off you for my brother as a birthday pressie, and he was right happy with it. He's a mobile fitter and keeps it in his van.

I welded my hip joint to the shifter today, seemed to work okay. Vitallium to mild steel using normal Mig.

Had to knock off early-ish to go and give blood so didn't quite get it finished.

Got the last of the welding done this morning and started splashing some paint on it this afternoon. Forgot to take any photos though...

Today I made a compartment for the welding trolley I am currently building, it will be used for holding snips, file, spare contact tips etc.
