Got back earlier than I thought today so did a bit more work to the lathe. The Oldham coupling had been smashed up, it was meant to be a weak link and so far in my retrofit trials and tribulations it has done its job twice. No more inserts left though so into the lathe with a piece of 50mm Dia Acetal, turn down to 60mm and part 3 sections off. Into the Chiron and cut a 10.4mm wide slot, turn over and cut the other slot at 90 degrees.

Now I have 2 spares, wonder how long they will last

Bloody heck, I must be good at this lathe work, just noticed I said turned down some 50mm to 60mm
Should be 33mm, how I got 60 I have no idea .

I wish I could do that trick, need 75 dia stainless and order 50mm Dia, shove it in the lathe and turn it to 75, save myself a fortune

Spray welding would do it, don't know about it saving you anything though.

Yes I made it for machining In steady bands etc

Hi guys, I was sent a short vid today of the mole plough in action that I modified at the weekend so it could be fitted to a Komatsu. I am not certain what force is being exerted on the plough but I would guess it’s not small I made the mount from 25mm road plate as you have already seen from the thread the other day

Things I made today? A bloody long line of oil down the road from the pub I was at, when my BMW bike decided to split a copper gasket on the main oil cooler feed. First thing I noticed was an occasionally flickering red light, but I couldn’t tell if it was oil or charging, and I knew the oil level was good as I’d checked it yesterday.....

Then the oil light came on full and I pulled up as soon as I could off the fast A road. The black goop was everywhere, all over the rear tyre, frame, and a load of splashes on the road. Breakdown company just dropped me at home, not sure whether the motor is toast yet, tomorrow I will investigate further.

Any ideas if a VW Beetle motor would work adapted to a BMW boxer gearbox?

Looks like fun. But what’s a mole plough for, and what does that dangly white bit do?
