A mole plough sometime called a mole drainer ..used on boggy land to cut a network of waterways normally to a ditch or stream at the lowest end ...the dangly bit opens up the channel a bit ...on the right sort of ground they work well ... I have seen one modified to lay plastic pipe for threading cables through later.. good tool ...

From 1937 the War agricultural department( war Ag) was giving them out( under war loans) to improve the soil on the Somerset levels. They were horse animal drawn(Horse normally) but as te War Ag were pushing mechanical methods some were tractor pulled.

A few years ago when the trend was to convert old farm buildings into homes or holiday lets, the ploughs and a host of other old equipmeant was turning up in scrap yards, auctions and car boots.

Screen for our recently remodelled garden. Manufactured from 3 mm weathering steel and 25 x 25 MS for the frame. Cutting the sections out was a steep learning curve but totally enjoyable. The best way to remove the dross was Abacs flap wheel and poly strip disc. Size is approx. 1 m x 1 m. Red kites were from my own photo through Inkscape.

I also did a little job for the guy who has the local P.O./bike shop. He'd had a go at "shortening" this bike-related tool [?] with an angle grinder with predictable results - it only needed a bit of facing off but was very hard......case-hardened I suspect. He was pleased with the result.....

Some progress on straight edge patterns

I made this today, not quite finished but just about. I then have to make a couple of rollers for it so hopefully I can do that on the CNC lathe if I figure out the difference in the codes from the old control to the new one

It was a real PITA getting in here to get the welds done, thankfully I had a button back cap for the WP20 torch so managed although not the neatest. One of the Parweld straight torches would have been perfect for this and I may get one at some point as I know, although it will not be used much, it would make things like this a dawdle.

Made a longer ramp (4ft) for the bike lift. Fed up with manhandling a heavy bike up the short ramp. I've also made a couple of side wings to match the extensions I made last year, so it will be a less fraught process getting on and off again.
I'd given serious thought to recessing the lift into the floor, but it doesn't rise high enough to compensate for the lost height.

Assuming that it is a runner, start the engine and use the clutch and throttle to drive it on whilst standing next to it.

That one is now, but when it went up there, it wasn't. Of the others, two drive up fine, and the XS is light enough to push up.
It makes more sense to me to avoid problems by making it easier to push them on and off when needed. Most of the time it's not necessary, but playing silly beggars with a heavyweight bike is just stupid.

Yes I know all too easy to go seriously wrong when gravity takes over, my ZX1100A2 was a bit of a hand full at times. I don't think that I could bump start it on my own like I used to do twenty five years ago.

Edit: Make that thirty years ago.
