The electronics has an encoder which is run off the head stock in the back of the lathe which then calculates the stepper motor speed based on the gear ration and stepper micro steps setup on the Stepper driver and in the controller. this is not my design but rather https://github.com/clough42/electronic-leadscrew/wiki - I just followed along

Little bit of unconventional Arc-Air
Had to remove nasty welds on a clam fishing rake
Unfortunately I have not a proper carbon arc set up and I'm still waiting for buying a plasma cutters so I have to improvise

I took the rocker covers off my bike to find out why it was rattling when hot. Turns out the pushrod ends were loose. Happens on the BMW oil-cooled engines the ally tube expands and the ends float about and sink into the tube a bit.

You can buy replacements but they are so easy to make I took the more satisfying route.

The bores aren’t too bad but as you’ve guess it’s becoming a coffee table.

I've a scrap flat 4 Subaru engine also destined to become a coffee table. It's been buried in the corner of a shed for 15 years but I will get around to it someday....!

It's the same shed that has the box of round tuits.

I have made things clean.

Clogged up stones.

Plus, skanky, manky and generally not nice to handle.




A few assorted oil cans, including a busted one.



Here is the broken one fixed.
No idea what the dirt was, but it was nearly imposable to remove.

Small, non cnc Harrison lathe is MT5. Bigger Harrison Alpha cnc lathe is MT6. Pity the Kennametal Hts drills are so frigging expensive,as they drill exceptionally quickly,no pilot hole required.

Not bad to be fair. Couple of little things needed to be adjusted in the beginning,but all good now. The accurite Dro on the manual lathe is pretty clever. Gives you constant surface speed etc....Cnc lathe has been spot on from the start, about 6 months old now.
