Don't do that but I will get up & straighten a crooked picture no matter where I am! There is a large old hall near me & either side of the stage there are portraits of the Queen & Prince Philip. Her picture is crooked & it's very noticeable as it is 6ft high! Every time I go I really have to resist the urge to move it. I did try one night but it's screwed to the wall!

Just a quick update on the Argon situation. I reckon it is a bad cylinder.
Never got much time testing as the boatyard were needing theirs but I managed to grab it for a short while.
First a mig with my gas.

Next one with theirs, might have still been some of my Argon in the line as I never purged it but I think you can still see it is improved and the cleaning action is more apparent.

Ok so Tig, here is one with my Argon (crap welding today )

And next the other side with their Argon.

Same again with my Argon.

Then other side with their Argon.

Then every so often with my Argon I get this horrendous mess.

So it looks to me like my Argon is bad, anyone else have thoughts on it?

Jury rigged together a new mounting solution for my shopvac filter. Can't find the OEM filters that are a friction fit anymore, so I bought this cheaper, bigger filter, some junk plywood I was gonna throw out and some M6 rods and nuts:

Pretty shoddy looking, but once it goes inside the cylone unit, nobody will see it.

Got most of the wall bracket/cooler done this evening, got the pump mounted, wired and piped up and then got the old one off the wall and the new one in its place.
Still have the pressure gauge and temp gauges to fit but for now it is working and I can also get the EWM underneath it and free up some space
Procon pump is pushing 1.4LPM through the torch so I am happy
Will have to make up a lid with the return pipe fitting in it, meant to cover it up to keep muck out until I do, but forgot, so hopefully I will remember tomorrow
Didn't have any round bar to make up hangers for the torches so will have to do that at some point in the future, for the time being I will just use the ones I have on the wall.
Also the intention is to one day get it painted but......

Hope you've got a filter in there, thr graphite vanes in Procon pumps get shredded by bits of cack in the water. Also a nice corrosion inhibitor: Comet xray systems use Procon and insist on VW car antifreeze otherwise the warranty's void!

Hood, liking that a lot, good idea to mount it on the wall out of the way. mines on a trolley and basically never moves more than a few feet. Might pinch the idea, and fix it to the wall... plenty length on the leads anyway. Anything to clean up the workshop area..

Same here, when in the workshop they don't move, when I take them on a job then a trolley would be no use anyway.

More leather I'm afraid. The welding projects are on the back burner for a little bit.

I saw a nice bespoke phone case on this website, so I thought that making one like it would give me something to work towards. Aim high! I ran out of scraps of leather I'd been practicing on and after a chat with a nice woman on the phone, bought a side of calf skin. It's been tanned differently that the scraps (Veg tanned vs chrome tanned), so it should (*should*) mould easier. I made up a new wooden former the size and shape of my phone and went about soaking the leather before stretching it and clamping it in place. The result was the best I've managed so far, but still not where I want to be**. Plenty of leather to practice on!

The leather isn't dyed, so that's another skill I'm going to be learning. If my wife can manage to dye her own hair in the bathroom, then surely I can dye a little phone case. Surely??

This is the case so far before stitching/dyeing/finishing off. I want the flap a bit wider and shaped differently on the next attempt.
** Apart from not quite the right shape, the leather developed blue spots all over it, a bit like mildew within 20 minutes of taking it out of the water. They haven't gone away after the leather dried and a spray of bleach made no difference. It could be impurities in the leather or the water I soaked it in?? Any suggestions? I'm hoping that the dye will cover it.

Making balustrade for a barn conversion it's 40 mm convex top rail,with 14 mm round balusters with forged ends to take a wood screw,these will go up the stairs & along the edge of the 1st floor.
On the front of the floor I'm buying some bowed ones from brundle,with the same fixing,so will post more as job progress.
This is me rolling the curved section.

Bit of a pain of a job. The damper went in the Renault Arez 556 my mate runs on the farm. Made a right racket before it gave up. Went to the local Claas dealer for repair. He got a CaseIH Maxxum 135pro out on hire from the local agri engineer to fill in for the Renault and was mighty impressed with it, but the 9000 odd hours on the clock put him off buying it, so the Renault soldiers on.

No prob, it's a morso squirrel 400 deep, 380 wide and 560 high, good stoves, about 4/5 kilowatts perfect on a boat I have one it's got a back boiler
