Did you use a vibrator?
Lol!
Just a blunt SDS bit held against the sides. Not ideal.

thats pretty damn clean, certainly seen worse in builders merchantRolled the first cap stone out onto a pallet, protecting the edge with an old towel:

Two edges have imperfections:

The finished surface has a few pinholes close up. I'm a tad concerned, over time, of those being a bit of a "key" for frost action. I was going to just install this atop the brick pillar and paint with Thompson's Water Seal. Veering now towards filling those imperfections and just painting with a decent, black masonry paint. On the basis the paint will fill the pinholes. Also, if it does flake off it won't look too bad as the substrate is the dyed grey colour anyway.
For a first attempt I'm pretty happy with that. OMG is it heavy though!
Guessing a dry'ish mortar bed to lay this on?
You should see the size of the mummy he intends to put in it through.thats pretty damn clean, certainly seen worse in builders merchant
Yes, I’ve made additional rails at 1100 high, which will be fitted when the building inspector arrives, the owner will install some mesh also,my invoice will display this requirement.Nickk I hope you see this as a positive criticism but those balustrades do not look toddler-safe from what I can see.
I like your man-cave, it looks a pleasant place to while away the hoursSlowly managing to effect a change in colour for the man-cave, from 'Rich Oak' to black. I thought/hoped it'd be one coat and done, but ohhhh no . Still, I'm getting there

The door's had 2 x coats, the rest of the front elevation only the 1 but I got tired....
The other end elevation has 1 on it too, so as the forecast's good for the next few days there'll be time to get it done while dry.

So much to say to that. Thanks, if only it were bigger.....
Very nice setup, and I wish our place was that neat and tidy. It reminded me that I promised to do some cleanup work in our back yard. But when I'm done, I can have a brew.Slowly managing to effect a change in colour for the man-cave, from 'Rich Oak' to black. I thought/hoped it'd be one coat and done, but ohhhh no . Cutting that long taper took a bit of thought.
Seeing as the doc is a veritable genius, probably something extremely complex and amazing! Some serious creating, going on there.
