I need a new chuck. Really should consider two piece jaws I suppose .New bearing end cap for something or other, was asked to make identical to another one out of stainless.

@Hood I'm now a soft jaw convert, lol
Or you may be able to buy two piece jaws for the chuck you have if it is reasonably good nick. Then again may be just as cheap buying one complete as the two part jaws are expensive to buy as additions.I need a new chuck. Really should consider two piece jaws I suppose .
I don’t know if anyone even makes an integral L00 chuck anymore.
That’s lovelyHere is one, not cheap though
first time I've ever used machinable soft jaws, I couldn't think of a better way to hold the workpiece... and now I'm thinking they'll get a lot more use now, lol. Also faster to swap the hard jaws around, just whizz the bolts off, tap the jaws off, wipe over and then bolt straight back up...I need a new chuck. Really should consider two piece jaws I suppose .
Aye, bargain price too just been looking at second hand chucks and the price for a half decent one isfirst time I've ever used machinable soft jaws, I couldn't think of a better way to hold the workpiece... and now I'm thinking they'll get a lot more use now, lol. Hood did me a solid when he sold me this chuck, and I don't think I truly appreciated it!
Yep I Agee with the brick idea. I am retired and I like to test myself. A few bits of 304 stainless laying around and lots of time resulted in what you see.Bit of 3 x 2 and a half brick is what I use.
Good job on the gate and bolt arrangement. It looks quite remote where you are. I do like to see other parts of the world I am not likely to visit so thanks for postingMade a gate to keep the horse out of the vegetable garden. Was donated a couple of bits of railing, one long one all on an angle from a balustrade, which I dismantled and refabricated as the main gate a while back, and a smaller straight bit that I cut down and reengineered into the garden gate.

I was particularly pleased with the bolt arrangement that I made with a bit of spare rod and some flat bar. I ground a groove halfway through the rod, bent it 90deg and welded the cut (2mm Pecol 6013 @ 70A), bent the flat bar over a bit of rod and welded it all up in position. I made the hinges too from a bit of angle and short lengths of rod: drilled the angle for the rod and welded it in place under the hinge.

Thanks MOL, it's up a mountain in central Portugal and the views are fantastic. There will be more pics from time to time as and when welding projects arise.Good job on the gate and bolt arrangement.
