What is it?

Hub and sprockets for this filament holder. The parts have M8 threads modelled in to the files.

Absolutely no need for them to be multicoloured other than as a torture test and for aesthetic reasons.

Printed the second of these two fellas this morning (about 1/16 scale)...



They'll be put together in this over the next few days...

The blocks will be finished like roughly hewn lumps of stone (type stuff).

Yeah and all cheap as I can find filaments off ebay not premium stuff. I wonder how many units of the MMUs they’ve sold? The support forum has lots of people complaining how completely unusable it is, utter junk, fatally flawed design etc. I just wonder what percentage of the users they represent.

16 hour print with colour change at 5 hours. A little premature perhaps, but still an attractive effect. I may try painting it if I get really bored.

My brother is in the process of making a model of a town house mansion for a local museum. The house known as The Oaks was demolished in the '60s (I think) and the acres of garden turned over to housing in the years before and after. His model will be as it was at turn of the 19/20th century



Although the model (still a work in progress) will predominantly printed paper and card he's asked me for some assistance with 3D printing some 'fiddly bits' namely:
4 Roman style columns that support the front porch
5 decorative window friezes
2 lengths of balustrade that sit either side of the top central pediment
A Roman style 'temple' just visible at the very far end

First off was the Roman temple, and at only 42mm high some of the details were going to be challenging to resolve with the resin printer. The main structure was modelled in F360, note the roof is missing - this will be added with printed card



In this view of the model pillars have a plain shaft but flutes were added for the test print...



It was going to be challenging to print it in one piece due to the support structure required and excessive cleanup and so the pillars were printed separately and then attached to the roof structure

Off topic , but what do you use for the air supply? I know there are dedicated aerosols available, but would compressor air be too full of moisture?

I use one identical to this indoors (has a different brand name). The moisture trap seems to do its job pretty well ...never really get any unwanted 'splats', and surprisingly no pulsing either.



I have a Bambi type (copy) silent compressor with a tank in the workshop. Can't say I prefer to use one over the other.

Made a couple of little bits for the printer:

The top one is a modified filament sensor cover with a cable tie hole; the bottom is a mount for an endoscope.

Still a bit of positional tweaking to do to make sure the nozzle is in focus, but it'll do for now.

I've used Design Spark Mechanical to create a small version of a cutlery drawer to keep taps and their associated drills together.
It looked OK on Cura, sliced properly etc.
When it started to print it chopped off 10mm from one edge.
I thought if it fitted on Cura, set to the correct machine, it would print OK. Obviously not.
I reduced just the width by 10%, it is printing all of it now.

Design Spark sometimes leaves some rubbish that can cause problems in the slicers.
Look in the tree for a purple icon, probably named Surface. Delete those and it usually slice good

So I can put ThisOldTony (or whatever) on and make the treadmill time seem go a bit quicker. I used to use a bit of bent TIG filler wire, but I lost it and I figured that if I had a CAD design, it would be easy to make another one if I lose this one too (and it's got my name debossed on the back of of it, which might help too).

I'm going to reprint the arms to tilt it back a bit as it's pointing at my chest rather than my face, but it works for now.
