Done my first working parts in PetG thanks to help from forum members.

Biax casing spacer and a holder for a speed contol.



And a 16 degree bevel gear which is a trial part for something I'll make later from delrin if it works out. I've never been a fan of printed gears but my machine isn't designed for bevels so they are a bit of a chore. Much easier to just print one out when it's just a trial. The result are actually pretty good, the camera makes it look worse (and this gear is only just over an inch across).

Printed a new nose cover for my Biax today. I drew it up in fusion including the 25mm x 1.5mm pitch internal thread, then printed it in PetG. It's a very snug fit as you can see by the marks left by my tools from screwing it on, but I didn't want to make it looser becaue they bloody well fall off in use.

Printer fan upgrade bracket for the Anycubic i3 Mega S. The one in the foreground was meant to be affixed by M3 hex head nuts and bolts. My lad has modded it to use the little brown rubber, anti vibration things that come with the new fan.

I did suggest to him making the fan bracket out of PLA might not be the best idea. Given that we're going to place the printer in a "sealed" enclosure to heat up for ABS. He knows best though, just like SWMBO. Couldn't be ar$ed swapping the reel over for PETG. Tbh I think nuts and bolts too would have been better.

If he gets bored over Xmas I am looking for a plastic container holder.
Like the ones used in Chinese takeaways.
Think of a surround and base with a slot to grab the containers through and take one out upwards.
Same for the lids.....I would have thought someone will have designed one already but I can't find one and I am fed up of the containers falling all over the kitchen at the slightest touch.
This is the closest i can find.

Reading that, this sprung to mind:

A mini one in stainless would be quite cool in the kitchen cupboard.

The second design you show is better than the first as the containers are face down. In the first one, with them face up, it is less hygienic

Slight problem...

Fitted the 5 new stepper motor drivers last night. You have to pull the header plugs off to each one. Then turn the white plastic bit of the 4 pin header on the PCB thru 180deg. Then refit the header plug what is now 180degs to what it was. News ones fitted with me holding an old one.

You then "tune" each one to just over 1Vdc between the reference pin and earth.

Fired it up and tested the motors on all axis including the extruder. Quiet? You'd better believe it, astoundingly so compared to the original drivers. Like a different printer!

However, with the newly printed support bracket and fan fitted, the fan sits on the blue heatsinks. The whole assembly still then projects too far down and prevent the bottom panel from being fitted. Shorter heatsinks / a slimmer fan may work.

I'm thinking to reprint the bracket a bit taller, for clearance, then mod the bottom panel. Cut it in half and allow the fan to project through it. Then put a little ventilated cover over that.
