I only post the stuff here to give people a feel for what is possible now in additive manufacturing.
This was just a test peice, the real aim is to produce a drysump oil tank with it, and some prepreg Autoclave composite tooling

No way can I get the router wi-fi extender to take a strong enough signal 30 feet from the lounge to the computer serving the printer in the spare bedroom .

I've tried every wall socket between the router & the printer , the only decent signal is when the extender is 70 mm away from the router but it won't penetrate the bungalow walls in between there & the bedroom .

The extender is a cheap £14 ish tp-link AC750 wi-fi range extender, are there more expensive but much better extenders or are they all much of a muchness? .

Perhaps it's time for a CAT 5 extension up into & across the roof void of the bungalow to the computer that serves the printer ?

A direct cable is always the most reliable method. However, I use use some Mesh routers at home, & get pretty damn good coverage with those.

I'm typing this, connected to wifi, sat around 20 or so yards away from the flat, & that signal is passing through several stone walls to where I am.

Mesh WiFi. It's not as cheap as the wifi range extenders etc, but it works. You turn off the wifi on your ISP's modem and plug a cable between it and the first mesh wifi thing. You then install the other mesh wifi things around the house.

You can (optionally) add wires between the mesh nodes (which will guarantee really good signal and make it less critical where you place the wifi nodes), but even without you should end up with a single wifi network covering a big area. This is how companies / conference centres etc do it.

That's where having a mesh wifi system with ethernet cable joining the various stations up is beneficial.

They ought to be banned from sale. They emit wideband interference all over the HF bands. There are meant to be rules about these things, but the Chinese are totally ignorant of that fact. To be fair, it is difficult to stop them radiating as the whole house becomes a giant transmitting aerial.

Thanks Ed, it's not a real stone build one , but one made from blocks out of crushed local stone out of the local black limestone & mill grit quarry about four miles away, that would sound reasonable,
When we came here almost 18 yrs ago we were likely the only people with computers for 100 yards around us now there aren't many in that same area who don't have at least one or a TV on WiFi.

I don't have a modem as such ,that's old tech ?????

I didn't know you could turn part of the router off,

All I have is three yellow sockets on the back back which I presume are places to plug things in or hard wire out to something several yards away . Biggered if I know what the two green and the grey socket are for , I wasn't here when it was installed neither did the Shell Energy guy who set things up leave any paper work for the router .

Help me out here please , have I got this right ?

Orange socket is broadband signal in from the line termination & decoder box ?
It carries internet & broadband services such as TV to the router ?

The router ( pictured above ) has it's own internal modem to give local WI-FI & internet connection , the yellow sockets for screened data plugs & cables to take broadband internet to devices when plugged in .
The one in place in the yellow strip with the green light on runs the skybox TV

I don't know what the blue socket is for ..... Guessing ...it's for a HDMI cable ?.

Running a properly terminated 9 at both ends ) cable from the yellow socket up in the roof void and down to the other computer broadband input socket is what I should be aiming for without these mesh boxes etc in the wiring ?

Your model shows two bearing blocks but the video only has one. That was my question, is the second block in sync on the helix so the shaft moves smoothly along its own axis?

Ah yes! The other bearing block is printing now and yes, in sync.

You could make a lovely light grip vise using that as a basic design
