Well, since you 'needed' to know, here you go. An odd mix of haggis, neeps and tatties - supplemented with basmati rice. Looks rubbish but tastes otherwise...... . Followed later by pineapple with cream. Oh, and some Bishops Finger to wash it all down. Don't say I didn't warn you - see what nosiness gets you?

Indeed it did. My father used to be a staunch Labour voter and NATSOPA Father of the Chapel. He became so disillusioned with the chaps he worked with, and their resistance to "The New Technology" that it turned him blue and he got out of the union. He accepted that there would inevitably be redundancies, but also saw that there was the potential of new opportunities, especially for the younger men. We all know how it ended up with the union's intransigence.

At a certain munitions factory I visit, there is a union office... but no shop steward, as nobody wants the job.

Some Britool flare nut spanners. These are tricky to find and I was pleased to get them.

They look OK, but watch out for fake Britool stuff... or perhaps it might be fairer to say 'Britool stuff made since they sold out to Facom'.
Usual clue is a slightly rough forging with a perfectly crisp Britool logo... as though someone stuck a generic blank in a CNC engraver

Today i got a new 50" 4k Samsung TV to replace my old Samsung 49" TV and before you all tut an extra inch is worth it as my old TV has gone outside to my man cave retreat, also got a some Selson lathe parts in a deal from the lathe i was trying to rescue that then got dropped

Not sure what i can use this for yet but it is a roll of steel 115mm wide and 0.65mm thick it is very heavy so it was a 2 man lifting job.

I wouldn't bother getting it serviced unless by Rotary themselves. Just wear it, they like to run, it will do it more good.

It’s rubbish when they start gaining time though. I have a Rolex Oysterdate that my grandad picked up in Damascus some time in the late 70s, he worked in fire safety. The actual Rolex service is an absolute fortune, but they dismantle and rebuild the motion, along with cleaning and any replacement parts (at cost!). They are miniature engineering marvels and the price reflects the service and the build.

Lots of pictures and photos and junk.
Decided to go through the stuff first to remove any family pictures from frames etc.. My and MrsGs wedding photo amongst them I'm sure they have others .....
But in a box of my Grandfathers stuff was this.

Okay. Further to this I whipped the screw back off (I do have the right tool) and these are the markings inside the case.



Now I believe i have deciphered most of the marks. It would appear to be 9 carat gold, assayed in Sheffield in 1975.
Can anyone shed light on the '141' inside the odd shape to the left, or the 'upside down tie' shape on the right.
I'm assuming the bottom numbers are model and maybe serial number??

That was a kind of reserved like for your post, always sad when old machinery gets broken. Still you saved some of it, do you have any plans for it or just sell it for parts?

Not much recently, have had no need.

But yesterday I needed some Velcro sanding pads, so went to get a mixed box.



This is what I got, they were heading to the skip, as the box's were water damaged and the contents were written of. 300 of the pads in 3 different grades.

Today I acquired a working laptop instead of a broken screen laptop

This is the first new type screen I've done barstaward are glued to the back so to remove you have to be very careful not to break the plastics or miss shape the hinges and when installing the new one glue that back in or it will just flex every time you open it
Any how it's back together and working until the person steps on it again

I'm thinking I'm getting a delivery of a few beers for this one but we will see

I think it will be for parts or to make something out of, Selson are not a common lathe but the gears look good so it might help fix another lathe.
