The wrong handle,+ one light ball came with it,so the dealers looking for a longer one ,however I may end up extending this,can I size it off my normal throat with the same diameter spindle(as I believe that’s how they’re calibrated),or should it be longer,btw the large ball is 28lb.

I was to lazy to clear the outside work bench.

A photography backdrop and lighting rig. Wouldn't normally post this as it's very mundane BUT Amazon cocked up another part of the order, I complained and they refunded the lot. I pointed it out and they said it was a goodwill gesture so £170 worth of lights and backdrop for free.
Makes a Yorkshireman very happy

Okay. Further to this I whipped the screw back off (I do have the right tool) and these are the markings inside the case.

Now I believe i have deciphered most of the marks. It would appear to be 9 carat gold, assayed in Sheffield in 1975.
Can anyone shed light on the '141' inside the odd shape to the left, or the 'upside down tie' shape on the right.
I'm assuming the bottom numbers are model and maybe serial number??

The upside down tie is for imported gold, the shape on the left is a Poincon de maitre No. 1, hammer head, for gold and platinum watch cases made in Switzerland outside Geneva.

Brilliant! Cheers for that, I never found that site in my searches.

Seems it was a very common thing for this type of watch to be a long service gift back in the day, there appear to be quite a few different designs around.
Really chuffed to have found it and saved it.

Just one thing. Looking at that site following the link to the list of registrant numbers https://www.vintagewatchstraps.com/swisspdm.php
The entry for 141, has a date in the 'Radiation' column of 26/06/1960 ... which happens to be the day MrsG was born ... who says coincidences don't exist...

The last item of my recent Amazon order arrived on Friday - H.P. Lovecraft's 'The Colour Out Of Space' - so my reading material for the summer has now been sorted.











I read all of Herbert's books way back in the early 80's and this 40th Anniversary edition popped up in my recommended list whilst browsing Amazon so I purchased it to read again.

How long should the handle be?
I have an FJ Edwards No 4 fly press with a massively long handle which I don’t really have the room for. I wouldn’t mind it being a bit shorter.
Shame you’re 200 miles away or I’d probably do a swap!
