Today I acquired...........

yesterday I acquired some wood .


A mate who's on a loft job rang and said you want wood for the log burner, bit to good to chop for fire and some decent bits of 9" x 3" too. What could I make ?
And this afternoon I acquired this


tiltable machine vice , I'm not really sure why it's not that well made and too big for the small table on me drill press .
probably because it was two miles away and £20 , and I've already got a small cheap crappy thing more than suitable for what I'll ever do.

Stanley No. 113 Circular Plane

To my untrained eyes, it looks to be a 4a or later as the scale is graduated, and possibly is an 8a (decorative knob).

Type 4a is the closest match to my plane.

I'd seen that page and the graduated scale suggests that it is probably an 8a if it's a Stanley. It doesn't have the Stanley writing on the Knob like @Arc Tourist's one; it's more decorative. Having said that, the pictures I've seen of an 8 show a knob decorated all over so I guess it might be a Sargent

Freebie, no charger and a battery dated 2002. Found a PSU from a PC sound system and an 18 month old disability scooter battery, total cost £0. Will it start a car once charged?

The batteries are cheap enough to replace, they are the lead acid batteries that are in mobility scooters and kids quads etc.

Common size is a 12v 17ah battery.

Cheep place was to order them from screwfix, as they are found in Alarm systems.

its only a few years old its been charged every few months so the battery should be fairly good

I treated myself to this palm router so I can fit door hinges more easily. It's a nice piece of kit although the fine adjuster is a bit awkward and the fence graduations very course.

I spent yesterday fitting the small toilet door (a job I have been putting off for ages)
I had measured and cut the door top and bottom as it was a bit tall before I noticed the gaps between the vertical panels were not the same colour as the oak face! It was a poorly manufactured door with the pine showing through
So that was another trip to Wickes for a new one!
Anyway the router did a good job and the hinges are in and look ok.

I bought a palm router for the same job but have used it loads since. Really handy and make such a nice job of hinges if you’re steady.

Yes it's a bit nerve wracking doing the bits without the guide but gives a nice straight line with just enough clearance to tap the hinges into place.

Acquired Friday and assembled on Saturday. Should work nicely with the pressure pot blaster I built a while ago. Already got the front suspension from the Scimitar stripped and ready for blasting.

These are monro tillers, good heavy lumps with villiers mk12s on them. Would like a ransomes at some point. We did have an Allen mower years ago, think we gave it away!
Had a big Howard rotavator too, and a land master, which was a killing machine

Just fettling the Allen, converted it to coil and battery, so easier to start. Used to have a big Howard on the farm in Portugal. Petrol converted to run on TVO, which was much cheaper.

After losing yet another expensive rems pipe cutter £140. Buried somewhere in Norfolk. I just got this from amazon for £12.06 it feels quite heavy duty and it just cut a 63mm mdpe pipe.
