Are they screamers?
I got a useful 12V 50A PSU, but it's a total ear-bender, with a fan going at 4K all day long.
I tried to kick that fan into touch, but discovered the fan is tied to a cunning monitoring board in the unit, so a quieter one doesn't work - it will run, but the unit doesn't power up, as it thinks the fan is duff.
These things were designed to run in server rooms and old-tech server designs paid little to no attention to noise concerns - and I suppose that's handy, as a lot of the older but still perfectly useable stuff is being turfed out, to be replaced with quieter and more efficient gear, so means there are bargains to be had.

Not expecting them to be quiet but there is a big section on RCgroup.com about modding these and it gives the pinouts for auto fan speed so hopefully bearable. They came from a decommissioned IBM blade server and are probably way overkill for anything I will ever need but they were free so would have been rude not to.

Congratulations @pondy, watching MRS ZX9 giving birth was at the same time the most exciting / happy / scary moment of my life.

I missed out on that part when ours were born , first was so big my ex needed stitches and I'd been asked/told to leave - with the twins there was no question of my being allowed in as they planned to use forceps.

thanks for all the likes and comments, we are back home now, such a mixed bag of emotions going on watching a baby being born, it's such an experience, it however was nothing like i had expected, nicole had it easy compared to what normally happens, she said her contractions was worse than the birth, from wanting to push toby was out within an hour, he isn't big at 7 pound 5 ounce but Nicole did tear which she had to go into theatre to fix. without turning this into a sob story this has been great for me, i sadly sat and held my mums hand on the 11th January as she lost her fight to cancer, i was extremely close to her and its hit me hard. the short period from then till now ive had to arrange everything and having funeral etc , ive had so much going through my head, this is certainly going to take my mind off that, he's going to be a handful, when he's old i look forward to getting him in the workshop.

congrats pondy not saying nothing here but my daughter was 14hrs labour i watched the lot and got dragged back up top of the bed only because i wanted to see her come out

i left her and baby in hospital went to collect lad and went back to hospital all family knew and was there soon after
