i normaly use a large bit of bluetac split it in 2 one on each end of the wire and stick it to a desk
The two little wheels are spring loaded and hold the wire securely, the thumbwheel on the left adjust the distance between the two legs.

Don't bother with those knurlers, the clamp type work much better, especially on small lathes. A "Cut knurler" is the best but you better be sitting down when you see the price.
If something is Anti-Rust Resistant then does that not mean it will easily rusttoday I aquired a laugh while browsing for a knurling tool

They do put a nice chamfer on the top of most screws . . . and occasionally undo oneIRWIN power grip screw extractors. A whole £1 on eBay and I even got the chance to take my bike out for a decent run to collect them. I didn't need them but at over £40 for a new set how could I resist at a quid

These clamp types are better. Kinder on the lathe bearings.
