This set of brass PO weights have come from Israil.
But stamped as GPO 1950. Odd as they are in Grams.

2 are not the same. But have the same serial numbers.

We had one of those brown tapes at home when I was little. It just apperared, so I guess we borrowed it. In an early lesson, it never left .

I did something to it, and it wouldn't retract or wind up., whichever. Sorry parents.

If it's anything like my mum's, I think when you unwind it, you'll find its really 34-1/2 ft (or 31-1/2 - I can't remember now if its shrunk or stretched )

Today I acquired from @EddyP a " suction cup


or a woods power grip to be precise excellent piece kit for anything with a smooth ish surface .
I was un packing it in the utility room when the misses walked in and said what's that , so I promptly stuck it to wall leaving a big black ring on the paint " you best get that cleaned off " she says and disappears nun to happy I didn't get a picture as I was to busy cleaning , took a couple of scrubs and was gone . I had one of these years ago albeit a bit smaller diameter at 6 1/2 " ,I lent it out and it came back the cup punctured .

I'm down in Salisbury visiting my parents, and sister and her family.
This morning I popped in to the town to get a book voucher for my nephew's friend's birthday at a lovely wee independent children's bookshop.

Couldn't leave without asking if they had one of my favourite books... this now completes the trilogy of memorable books from my childhood; the other two being 'Where the Wild Things Are' and 'The Hungry Caterpillar'.

Probably advanced reading for most on here, myself included! ;-)

Many moons ago when my lad was little we were in one of the big DIY places looking for some plumbing fitting or another.

I'd been there a while when I suddenly thought, he's been quiet, what's he up too?

When I looked round he'd been busy emptying a whole shelf full of toilet / sink plungers and sticking then firmly to the smooth floor. There must have been 50 of the things firmly stuck to the floor, with a good dozen people stood at the end of yhe Isle laughing at his antics (and mine as we then struggled to get them unstuck again and back on the shelf)

Brilliant if you know how to use it properly.
Remember to keep the handle vertical except when actually jacking. Especially when switching from lift to lower.
