do I buy a bucket or grease tubes,with more plastic to dump,I suspect the buckets are a fair bit cheaper.

Grease tubes every time, no matter how careful you are you'll introduce some grit or dirt if filling from a bucket & you are then pumping that dirt into your expensive bearings!

You can get grease now in a soft plastic tube, looks like a salami, should fit in any modern grease gun.

I like them...timperlok heads tend to sink in...only thing I don't like is the drive not being a socket but maybe they'll work OK and not eat the bits.

In our country, the protected brand name SPAX has for years become the generic name of any self-tapping screws for screw connections in wood products of all kinds, including those of other manufacturers than the inventor (1967) Altenloh, Brinck & Co (ABC).

The name is an acronym for chipboard screw with cross slot (SPAnplatten-Schraube mit Kreuzschlitz (X).

Of course, in our family we now only use those with Torx drive and I personally - if the quantity is not too large and the probability of future disassembly is given - especially like the stainless steel versions.

The selection of different versions for special applications is huge.

A successful, nice product - I like to see that it came to you and you like it too.

Don't worry.

We built this shelter with its footprint of 8x8m and height of 4m in 2019 and SPAX screws with Torx drive were the only connectors. (We look at it from the west, the main wind direction, about 100km flat land to the North Sea).

We used two bits of each of two sizes and with the last two I still screw - we used the bits of the screw manufacturer.

Torx head screws are far better than PZ screws. They're all I use for wood, nowadays. The Forge Fast screws from Toolstation are good countersunk head Torx screws.

I'll second the Forge Fast screws as they hold half my house up! Torx drive and they don't strip out or snap without loads of abuse!
@roofman have you seen the price of those Spax screws?

I used timberlok hex drive on my elevated deck about 6 years ago...it's the only thing holding the deck together and been fine with zero problems. These timber screws are well designed for the job...I didn't have a single screw cause any problems (no breaks, heads failing or splitting).

I think also they're hardened steel...I was worried about the shear strength with the shafts being quite thin (vs say coach bolts) but these things are very very strong.

They're already not cheap here - and set the standard - I'll admit ....

... in your country, sovereign and far out in the North Atlantic, of course, they could already slide into the painful range price-wise ...

.... but maybe you have better stuff, which we on the continent now unfortunately will not get to know ...

TOOLTOPIA on fleabay model is 81007T there's an extra 10% of right now . First GW ratchet for me but it'll not get heavy use I'm thinking maybe the long handled 3/8's drive as I recently broke the forward /rev lever on me favorite Mac tools ratchet and I've been told the service kits for that model are no longer availible but that was by the man on the van , think he just wanted to sell me a new one . I may drop them an email.

Thanks, I might have to invest in one. I already have 6 1/4" ratchets but I like the look of that one.

The thing is called GMG_2,5 for "off-road multi-purpose equipment" ("Geländegängiges Mehrzweck Gerät 2,5t") with 2.5t lifting capacity (in reality much more).

The attempt of the GDR at the very end to defeat the class enemy on the logistics side (and probably also to create an export hit within the Warsaw Pact).

They put everything that the GDR's planned economy had to offer in terms of vehicle and computer technology into this part.

The requirements-specification-book was huge, the thing became much too complicated, it can do everything except to fly and is also fast .....

Rumor has it that after the fall of the Berlin Wall, U.S. military specialists tracked down the 50 or 80 best examples, collected them and shipped them to the U.S. because there was nothing comparable in the West.

Telescopic loaders are better today if they have all-wheel steering, but still don't run 70km/h and can do wading ...

Mine is number 78 from 1988.

This thing is actually pretty interesting, it would warrant its own thread .... but do I want to do the work!!?

Monday was a day trip to Wye Valley. Great day, apart from the long journey!

A bit of skip diving today resulted in three frames. The previous owners didn't think it was worth the time and effort to dismantle them for bits. I did

The result of dismantling was three sheets of polycarbonate (that I probably don't have a use for), one with most of the protective cover still on:

and this lot of 3030 extrusion (longest length is about 900 mm):

A variety of different profile types, but I'm sure all will be useful

@Brad93 I went through some of the codes ages ago and saved a search, I rarely check it but had a look for your thread.
There will be other insert shapes but I think for deep boring its best to stick with positive inserts and keep cutting forces to the minimum.
