Since stopping all 'work for money' things have been a bit quiet in the workshop so I bought these with the idea of making a 3 wheeler trike for the wee fella, need to source some tube/bar/bearings and a design for the back axle but once I begin I will probably do a project thread, may even have my Myford paying for it's keep

Last week I got myself a lathe. There is no makers name on it that I can find, the plate that gives combinations of gears to change the power feed is in German, so I trawled through all the pages of German lathes I could find on www.lathe.co.uk and this is the closest looking one.
My lathe has a plate on it saying it was supplied by Baron Bros, Denison Road, Leeds but they exist anymore.
It's a flat belt type that was originally a treadle lathe but it's been badly converted to electric power. I'll be reworking the motor mount and the belt arrangement because at the moment it's very top heavy and wants to fall over backwards.
So can any of you lot identify it for me before I go completely cross-eyed staring at Tony's lathes site ?

The black & white picture is from Tony's lathe site and that is an Ehrlich, like I said it's about the closest looking German lathe on his site to what I have but I'm wondering if the "feed plate" is a red herring. Perhaps it's another country entirely and it was exported to Germany hence the plate being in German ?

The big problem with identifying lathes of that vintage is they all look alike 
I had one that looked kind of similar, same tailstock, same bed design, similar looking compound but mine had a different head design and different saddle configuration and also had a gearbox for the feeds.
I spent years trying to find out what it was but sadly never did

Looked at them and lots of similarities but nothing the same.
One distinctive feature it has was on the saddle, it had 3 position lever to engage the feed, middle for no feed and swing left or right for each direction.

The finished downdraft bench in position.
The isolator on the wall had the power for the extractor fan running through it so we could turn it on or off for talking instead of having to raise our voices. The hooks on the walls help to keep the cables off the floor to minimise trip hazards.
I think next time, I'd work harder to soundproof the plasma area, it's incredibly loud, no matter where you were in the room, when it ran it was hard to hold a conversation over the top of it. Same goes for the bay with the polishing and abrasive demos.
Steel sheet sandwiching rockwool makes a good acoustic barrier so I'm told. Will have to give it a go.

I am going mad (Ok I know some will think I am almost there)
February I was madly looking for metal seat frames.
There was none in my area, none at good price on the flea bay.
I was getting a bit peeved.
A few weeks ago I got 4, through men in sheds.
Then more arrived, making 10 in total.
Today I was on Exmore working, ripping out a 1950's fire alarm and cables. It will be saved and returned to the place, as a part of the Cottage History. A new wireless system is ear marked for it.
Plus I got 30Kg of lead cabling. As well as 8 x 1950's fire extinguishers.
Bonus.
I was sipping a coffee, when a plaintive cry went up from the gardeners.
"Oh My. Oh dear. Boss we found more of the things"
I ambled out, I saw what they cursed at.
I asked, what is the issues. I am sure they will make a great addition to the cottage, when it is restored.
"We have uncovered 12 so far, we think they are copulating over night." Was the reply.
I never look a gift horse in the mouth.
Can have them?
The reply from the fore man was.
Dear Mr TYA, I would be extremely grateful if you would remove those blessed items from my view and away to a place were I can not cast my eyes on them again.
I am a gentleman, so I did help relieve the stress in his life. I am kind like that.
I got the lot, and the decorative iron work to the right.

I tried for ages to find a pair of those for a small bench for the garden, and here you are tripping over them - as we say up here..."The world's ill pairted"
I can see 'Men in Sheds' is going to be busy
