Today I acquired...........

Nice big drill chuck for my m300 lathe (not the one shown).

Along with the chuck and a few other bits, I also acquired some collets that I don't need. They were marked "PC Vert head". Does anyone know what machine they belong to? I've already had a look on Tony's lathes website and drawn a blank.

I ordered these, a while ago, & whilst I was undecided regarding quality, initially, they have performed perfectly well in use.

My colleague bought few from AliExpress and he use them at work.
I don't like them that much TBH.
But they surely get the job done

no... couldnt bear to see them being chucked out when i acquired them, still cant...
what ever they were originally ordered for didnt happen as i unbagged that one to take a pic

I've learnt - they might well be useful to someone somewhere, or so new and shiny it seems wrong to bin them - but most of the time, all you do is move the bin journey to a later point in time where fuel costs more money to take 'em there, and there's now probably a fee at the tip to get rid . . .

I picked up one almost that size a few years ago with the idea of making some sort of telescope. It's still on the shelf, but it looks good.

FWIW, it looks like it could be one of the condenser lenses from a large-format condenser-type enlarger.

I needed a smaller, working ground saw to abuse, this £60 Lidl offering seems good enough. Not the most powerful (2/3rds of a ms261 of similar engine size) however it comes with a decent full chisel chain. Only annoyance is, its .325" chains while I have a reasonable amount of 3/8LP, so I may swap the bar and sprocket and put the .325 on the 020T, that will also need a new sprocket

It also has a fancy starter. I think its winding up a spring and then suddenly releasing, where as most starters will directly rotate the crankshaft.

Somone posted that Lidl had the 12v drills reduced, not quite as cheap here but £8.49 was good enough. While the chucks are not great quality, I find its very useful being able to swap them. So I now have four of these.

Well, courtesy of @pressbrake1 and two good friends of mine I aquired this today, it was a nice surprise. I won't even begin to tell you where this is going to end up:



Bit of a dark photo because, well, it's dark outside. The outer diameter on all three is 3", not lightweight gear at all.
