5Kva continuous rated 110 transformer - anyone want to guess the price I paid?

I chucked one away recently. Got 5 and that one kept tripping breakers when first plugged in and had a cracked lid. Come up for grabs all the time and CBA with the hassle selling it.

I weighed one in as it had a metal case and I got given a nearly new one left behind on site.

this one seemingly had an RRP of £399 inc VAT...

Seems pretty clean, plug on the end is a decent duraplug, might blow a fuse at full chat, but I'm not likely to draw that much..

Paid £40 for it.

I was going to be ridiculously optimistic and say "Free"

Some 1/2" BSP air pipework with a nice brass 200psi gauge - £7. Will look nice on my planned airline installation!
A new 5l of fence paint - £3
Stihl strimmer line - £2
An 8" grinding wheel & 6" wire wheel for a bench grinder - £4
I bought a box of contents for £3 for the roll of 8mm nylon air pipe. In the bottom of the box were 3 tins of refrigeration gas, one unopened and a set of digital scales. Fitted a new battery & I now have a set of paint mixing scales!

They certainly don't seem to be in as much demand today as a lot have moved over to battery power for site and other reasons ..

I have a couple here a bit smaller than the one MrFuzzy needs but I never use them.

I still do and will continue to use 110v. Prefer the sockets for a start when dragging a lead of the end of a tool. And the tools last longer than there 240v equivalents.

most transformers trip when u 1st plug them in specially a 32 amp b type mcb starting current on a wire wound tranny is high . wish u had chucked em my way

Twas knackered mate top casing was cracked and pieces AWOL. . Wasn't a 5kva either. And just single socket.
Had been used in my old garage before I acquired more.

Mate came around and dropped me a bucket of taper drill, lathe tools, taps and adjustable reamers.

Nice come in handy even off you never use them.
I too hav e large collection but the odd time I have needed one they have been a life saver.
Still not used the M7 and M9 though
