When I say "encapsulated" I mean can't get to it without wrecking the whole thing.Bypass it or tape another onto the field winding.

Is that how old the cable with red in it is my grandad gave me a full roll of twin and Earth with those coulersproper widow maker that
I got a sewing machine with supposedly a duff motor, checked RCD tripped, bought another motor (mainly as the old one had a pedal that looked like it had an asbestos pad inside it, made of metal and I was dubious on the earthing.
Took the plug off before I tossed the motor...discovered the plug wasn't wired properly...red to live, green to neutral and neutral to earth (showing how old the flex was, flex colours went to brown, blue, green/yellow about 1962 or thereabouts...), would have worked on a non rcd board but of course RCD sees an imbalance between live and neutral and trips...so kept the motor, no idea what I'm going to do with it though...sure I'll find a use...
The colour change for fixed wiring, Ie Twin & Earth was between 2004/6. Flex was way before that,Is that how old the cable with red in it is my grandad gave me a full roll of twin and Earth with those coulers

I used to work right by the villiers estate in Wolverhampton and so many of those engines ended up as scrap when honda engines got put on small gennys and compressors, My dads bench was made from 2 cast iron ends that has the villiers name on, Wish i had them now.3 hour round trip this morning to pick up a couple more Villiers engines.
