Can wrought iron not be forged?
It can, but it's very different from modern steel and requires a different aproatch due to the high amount of slag and other impurities in it.
Portable anvil. I'd quite like a small bit myself for that very thing!
You wouldn't want a wrought iron anvil as its very brittle and also has less carbon content than modern mild steel, so so although it is tough it can't be hardend.
