I have an R-Tech 250-1, single phase 250 amp mig welder and it spends most of its time welding on a setting of around 200-220 amps laying down full fusion welds using 0.8mm A18 mig wire onto mild steel of various thicknesses of material from 0.6mm to 2mm sheets, 3mm to 10mm thick flat bars and plates, and on solid round bars from 6Ø to 25Ø with ease.
For the last 3 years on this welder I have used a Paraweld SB250 mig welding torch which is compatible with type MB24 Euromig welding torches. I’d used the same model of Paraweld torch on the previous Sealey welder I owned, so I am familiar with and really like using the Paraweld SB 250 torch: I’ve used one almost every working day for last 5 years. What I didn’t like was the alarming rate of front end consumables I was getting through, so I ended up buying cheap wholesale versions of the consumables directly from China. These cheap Chinese consumables had exactly the same operating lifespan and durability as the more expensive branded ones I was purchasing from UK suppliers, so to a greater and lesser extent I was happier, but still concerned at the rate of front end consumables I was consuming.
Then I got around to reading the instructions and specs originally supplied with the Paraweld SB250 torch. I’ve only owned and used these torches for five years and what I read was: Rated at 250 Amps CO2, 200 Amps Mixed Gas @60% Duty Cycle.
I use mixed 85/15 Argon/Co₂ Mig welding gas and so therefore I was working at the top end of and often exceeding the stated duty cycle of the torch, and that was why I was consuming the front end consumables at an almost runaway rate.
Every now and again fate smiles down favourably upon me and later on the very same day that I learnt about the torch ratings and how I had been exceeding them to my expense, a second–hand but hardly used MB36 Euromig torch rated at 300 Amps CO2, 270 Amps Mixed Gas @60% Duty Cycle became available for the princely sum of £40.00+P&P or at £52.00 all-in it was just a smidgeon over 50% of the retail price at the usual online welding supply companies, so I made a quick decision to purchase this torch and give it a go as there was very little to lose, everything to gain and at the worst I could sell it on for what it cost me and break even.
During the last four months I have successfully used this second-hand MB36 Euro welding torch on my R-Tech single phase 250 amp mig welder and when directly compared to the SB250 Euro torch I was previously utilising I have reduced the quantity of front end consumables I was using, which has contributed to a positive cost reduction.
I have made a saving of £6.00 per week over the last 16 weeks, which has resulted in an overall cost reduction of £96.00, and so I have decided to upgrade to a brand new SB360A euro mig torch for £85.00, a pack of qty 25 of 0.8 X M8 tips @ £20.00 and qty 2 off M6 torch adaptors @ £3.24 making a total expenditure of £108.24. However, I have managed to sell on the second-hand MB36 torch for exactly the same as I purchased it for and in a fortnight's time I will be at the break-even point and will have recovered my total initial investment in this upgrade for my workshop.

These were dropped off today to add to my collection of old car bits, Two of the jerry cans have the arrow one is 1968 the other is 1975, I liked the shape of the Eversure one it just looked a bit different.

Can’t go wrong with Jerry cans. We have one from 1952 I think, ex mod, still great.

Haven't been so excited for a new toy in *ages*.

I had never seen the Gys name till i was offered a plasma cutter made by them, I thought it was a random brand at the time but then found out they make good stuff.

A metre of 3 core flat household mains 240v flex.
Sounds boring, but the customer service was appalling! They guy asked me for the product code - I said I had no idea, I don’t work there. Then tried telling me it was two core round (50c more per metre). We counted the cores together and examined the difference between round and flat flex...
We get back to the counter and the guy holds out the flex between his arms outstretched and holds it tight, then asks me ‘is this one or two metres?’. Trust me pal if it was two you’d be stretching a whole lot more!
Then it was payment time! I was rewarded for ‘actually paying’. I asked what he meant, and apparently given the wire spoils are so close to the door people like to roll off a load and walk out without paying. The shop doesn’t like to call the police as it’s ‘too much hassle’ so it keeps happening. I said I’d bear it in mind for next time to which he replied ‘hmm, actually I probably shouldn’t have told you that’.
Can anyone top this?

I figure I need a tig kit,reg.bottle.
Going to rig it to the works kit to test it... I have had these kicking about the bottom of my locker for years , would any of them do and are bottles available for them?
