No defence needed . Normally the machine would be levelled and bolted down, the 3 feet make levelling easier and lessen the chance of any twist in the base that might affect the machine accuracy. If you have the factory book there will probably be a section on installation and levelling.

All I can say in defence is if you had ever seen the unit mounted on the THREE feet it comes with from new you would realise the 4 castors have increased the stability significantly

Wooden skids would be better underneath. With something that tall and skinny, castors, especially non-locking types, are just begging for an incident.

That's horrible, I would have closed the door a lot longer than two days! Always a worry seeing a full set of casters under tall machines, the reduced footprint with wheels mean they can go over easily depending on the c of g.

Better to mount them on a board with just 2 wheels at the back so you can tilt them back and wheel them round and they have the added footprint of the size of the board when stood upright kind of thing

Trust me, those castors are a lot more stable than the 3 point mount of the standard Clarkson if you don't want to bolt it down. My one is sat up on 4 castors so I can move it because of the number of times I nearly dropped the thing trying to move it to get my bike in though mine are a bit wider apart.

If you look at the Mk2 Clarkson you'll see the base is a larger square with 4 pads.

popped into my local plastic place to see if they had an offcut of 1mm clear.
so i could make a new outer and inner clear lens for welding mask.
as i couldn't find any online for my mask.

was told this was in recycle bin. and he took £4 for it.

They all have skips with locks on round here. Even if something is in the skip you are not legally entitled to remove it as it is the property of the skip company once it is deposited in there but it's fair game as far as I'm concerned.
