Another pair of Altberg boots from eBay, black ones this time. Supremely comfortable, very light and a Vibram sole for £70 - soldiers and coppers often get issued with them and sell them on.
An ongoing issue with right foot (feels like a small, flat pebble under ball) that means only certain footwear is comfortable whilst on my feet chasing kids around; NHS podiatrist thought fracture of second metatarsal (later x-rays counted that out) and I thought Morton's Neuroma (ultrasound ruled that out) so might just be something I have to live with - might be diabetes related...

They are good boots, last a long time.
They get warmer in winter, cooler in summer and water proof if you get some decent dubbin into the leather. Work it well in and let it soak.

They're bloody excellent boots! This is my, umm, fourth pair... just call me Imelda Marcos! Have two size 9's (incl. these now, the other pair is brown) for wearing to work and two size 10's (bagged a pair on eBay for an absolute steal, so waiting for the first pair to wear out) for dog walking in 'normal' Scottish weather. The Altberg Leder Gris stuff is good, too - must get some of the black stuff now.
Hope not.
Thanks, I hope not - its been 25yrs now and I'm reasonably well controlled but who knows... must get back to the podiatrist.
I'm guessing "normal" Scottish weather requires you to wear 2 pairs of socks then, either that or you're hoping your feet grow into them

They're so comfortable that I wear thin socks with the 9's and Sorbothane inserts and walking socks with the 10's!

, I received two 3D printed spanners for undoing the top of the oil filter housing on the e60. Incredible what's possible nowadays, and it'll save me messing with 3/4"-drive sockets etc.
The larger one shown is to fit at the lower scalloped end of the lid, but unfortunately access is restricted by the engine breather indicated. Not to worry, the smaller one will do the job fine!

Today I acquired.
Well this evening I acquired this beast. British empire lathe. Gap bed . Dirty but otherwise all working. Missing a little plate over the gear box . And it's a big heavy lump.

Looks like someone has fitted a locking bolt on the chuck backplate to prevent it coming un-screwed in use.
