Pom Pom is not a Bofar.
Yes they were both 40mm. But the Pom Pom was normaly a "Quad" mount or a 8 barrel nount on warships. Often called the Chicago piano.
Was a good weapon in the Boar War, but by WW2 it was out of date, hence why the good 40/60 Bofars came into its own, along with the 20mm Oerlikon. Both used by almost all forces in that conflict,
My of bean out of date by the late 1930's but still fun the blat down range a few hundred 2lb bricks in 1989.
Later in WW2 when we had enough ships to hunt efficiency the German submarine fleet the British developed a 2ld SAP for it. IT was called a "U Boat tin opener"
