Ye,victory..nice onearther
Right so I'm just off out to the shops and what do I see, more steel plates stashed by the bins. Suddenly I realise what I've got, so I take the other two bits up to my flat along with a pile of nuts, bolts and washers, and build this:
Flipped the shelves to make trays, and as a bonus, it's on wheels! Need to get some rubber sheet to line the trays, but I think I've just picked up a new trolley for my tools for free!
Used these daily in my toolmaking days, quality instruments.I spent today in York with the other half. I always pop into a hardware store called Barnitts in the city centre when I get dragged to York for the day. They have quite a wide range of tools which makes a change from all the other shops in the city but these days they seem to stock pretty standard DIY grade stuff. They also have a small engineering tools display cabinet. I picked up this Moore & Wright micrometer for £14.99 which I thought was a very good deal. I think I would struggle to get a potentially battered second hand one for that price. It measures to one ten thousandth of an inch. Brand new in the bag with the brown paper still on it. The fella who served me in the shop agreed it was a bit of bargain and he had picked them up dirt cheap as they were imperial and the demand for them was very low. He reckoned that the metric equivalent would have cost 58 quid. They still had two or three left in the cabinet if you are passing and want to harness your inner Yorkshireman. The micrometer is a 1961B. It's quite a novelty to buy something made in England these days.
I was allowed out today.
I know, twice in 2 days.
Good Vark.
Got my mits on these 2 little beauties.

The red one even had film in it, Ok all ready light damaged. it seams to work.
The Kodak bellows is in good state or repair as well.
total cost, nowt.
I had or may still have a small collection of them if my father has not thrown them out or given them away in the last thirty years since I last saw them. I ought to enquire but I expect Mrs.ZX9 will have Mrs. Varks views on them.I've got one of the bellows type cameras, my mother was a keen photographer and used it in the 50's.
