I think a full review maybe worth it @8ob if possible as want something to replace my ageing transformer mig.


Found one of those cheap Aldi welding rods so buried it into a bit of 3mm flat at about half power.

They did. So did Cornelius Whitehouse of Cannock. All these are slashers made by them. I don’t think these were sold to the home market.

The top one looks like a "Weed Wacker", if it is, then it will look good with a Bamboo or Traditional cane handle.

Nope. Whitehouse offered English ash handles as standard or American hickory at cost. Funnily enough all I seem to be able to get nowadays is hickory. A lot of these were used in plantations - around where I live it would have been in the flax industry. These tools are about 100 years old now.

I have a large 10m high hedge, 60m long that is supposed to be 6m high. I got a man with a tractor and a really cool blade attachment to cut it, which has left a whole heap of large branches which need stripping. I use the kukri looking one to cut along the branches, it makes short work of the task and it’s very sharp. You can easily cut through a 3” branch with it on an angle! The branches I will cut for firewood, the thinner stuff gets shredded for mulch.
