I didn’t know there was maths to be worked out here... lottery ticket time I think

I did touch the top very lightly with a carbide bit to chamfer the edge. Sandblasted the lid, too. Next stop etch primer!

Measured up the sprocket splines that I need to cut into the hub. Drawn up,they comply to a Din spec,so good guess measuring there. Turned up a toolsteel blank. Bit of 3d contouring of the relief angles at the back. Cutting edge is bigger and wider in front of bolster on toolholder that incorporates the coolant feed,so holder won't weld itself into the spline!Fits the holder. Now looking for a small enamelling kiln 240v Uhlig Laudeart comes to mind as I can't justify firing up the 8kw kiln to harden that !

Pretty small beer compared with what's on here, but just made a couple of dies for the drain plugs in the floor of the car I'm doing up.
These are for the sockets that accept the drain bungs in the floor.
I made the dies for the bungs earlier.






The machining is pretty rough (I'm totally new to this) but the plugs turned out fine.

Today I brought out the big guns....
And milled a 0,9mm wide slot into a 5mm piece of silver steel

To make the last piece of the gizmo to wind the element to heat the kiln to harden the part to broach the adaptor to fit the engine in the three wheeler that Johnny built!
Now that I know it works I will pull out the Kanthal wire. Mig wire used to test winding jig ...

What sort of power and size of kiln is it? Was planning to make a small furnace for aluminium, and electric would be nice.

It's based on a small enamelling kiln that used to be 800w. I only want it for heat treating some single point broaching tools. 12,5m of Kanthal resistance wire will give me 1600w which should be ample to get the parts up to 1050c . I have access to a 7,5kw kiln,but cannot justify using that to harden parts smaller than a Malteser....

That's brilliant. I've fancied building a small oven to heat treat things like wad punches and similar, hopefully I can still find this post when I get to it, there's no telling how long that'll be.

Not done much with lathe need to get the pulleys/speeds sorted.

Made a waterproof case for bike temp/voltmeter. Unsure how waterproof, as it is a press fit relying on rubber sealant either side of the plastic

looks great but not sure how water proof it going to be as there is a lip that will catch the water and stay there untill dryed

poss worth add a little clear mastik round the edges would help

I've been machining a new rod and replacing the barrel on a 21t excavator bucket ram this week. 120mm bore , 80mm rod around 1500mm long.
