Getting there lads.

1st print wanted some support so it messed up the pin at the bottom.

I turned on support but its actually welded it too well lol so i need to see what the setting options are. Just running off the 1st try on the main body but if it all fits i wont be concerned about asthetics for tomorrow

Read this thread from start to Finnish and can confirm that Roofman off the internet wants no part of this over complicated plastic malarkey..don't want to join another forum and be bombarded with another set of parameters,guides,problems,and general daily mares from bad materials and broken machines and tooling that i have had from iron and metal for over 40 years...have fun lads

Actually there's about 502 parameters to fiddle with in Cura

Ok so the learning curve has ramped up...adding support also added support inside. So i looked in the support section and it shows everywhere...i expected inside outside or everywhere.....sadly no. I have now tried the other option.
Bit frustrated with the weather as its hissing down and has been for the last 3 hours so getting my fishing gear loaded will be a wet affair. Just had a couple of days to fish and it starts raining....very depressing.

Anyway i meant to say adding support everywhere puts it inside the hole...arrgggg.

Print them standing, wont need support then.
Support is also relatively easy to pull out, clean the rest with a drill.

There is a plugin for Cura that let you auto rotate the parts for best print but you need to install and restart to see it in the menu.

Also, when you have sliced the part switch to layer view. You'll see everything exactly as it will be printed. There are different colors so you will easily see your geometry, infill and support material. That way you can fiddle with settings without wasting wire.

Buildplate
Everywhere

Later did internal supports

As said print them a logical way up

An SLA would, these FDM's would struggle unless you printed the flat portions and then fixed them together.

Here's what mine's been on with today:

Poly wishbone bushes, but instead of bearing directly on the pin, they have acetal bearing surfaces in the centre, and there's a ground steel tube that goes inside that which taps over the wishbone pin.
The poly bush also has lip seals build right into the bush that seal on the ground surface to keep dirt and water out, and a internal grease reservoir that feeds the rotating surface.

Ok chaps i will try this next time i print.
Actually is there anyone who could knock up an stl for this part. Its a part i lost yesterday for my fishing rollers but i have not even started to learn fusion 360 so it wont get done for my match tomorrow unless someone can knock something up for me.

The only real critical dimension is the OD of the part as that goes through the roller and leg.

The plug just stops it all falling apart so size, as long as it stays in is optional.

Drop a 7mm thick 16mm dia
Drop a 46mm thick 8mm dia
Stick a 5mm tap in the end
Carve a screw driver slot in the head
Part 2
Drop a 7mm thick 16mm dia
Stick 12mm of M5 on it
Carve a screw driver slot in the head

In fact just for giggles start the clock……..

Over engineered mate. its merely a pin for the leg on my pole roller. So its not good looking but functional.

I am grateful for me to print it use and still keep learning though.
I now know to print them standing up but would still like to learn how to adjust the thickness of the support as the Uj joint posted in here had support i could break off easily but i cant check the settings as it was sent to me as gcode....to prevent my errors...lol

Big thanks to all who have helped me learn....thanks to hud for the file it saved me time learning to design.....for now.

To me a thread saves working out the interference fit and as you just include it in the print
Threads and bolts are just a plugin to freecad so no sweat

Philipm will tell you looking good is a byproduct of functional

I am still on the old cura, no control over supports
In the past when doing a 0.2 layer I have Drawn supporting shapes and left a 0.2 gap between them and the face they supported, the easily snalled off. Done this a few times for things that would be impossible with the built in supports on the version I have.

That's why I was pointing out how simple it was, yep no help for time critical now, but for reference

You find the support line width under Quality
Then you have suport density under, more logical, Support


As for the design part of it, thats when the fun really starts

Anyone feel like adjusting an STL file so I can see what it should look like with supports. My grandson is not impressed. lol

Its a dinosaur but I cant upload zip here as its too large. anyone in a position to help me learn please PM me and I will send you it via email.
