I don't use DeWalt (not a fan) but I'm awaiting a mate sending me the top section of a knackered DeWalt XR battery so another mate can use DeWalt batteries on a Makita clone grinder. It works OK on the bench just connected with fly leads.

You'll have to wait for a bit! However...see my next post ref this Lidl Parkside hot air gun!

@Kram , evening. So I bought the above Lidl Parkside hot air gun. Tried it on a Makita clone battery. Fully charged battery here. Connected + & - to the tool, no go. Even tried connecting the "3rd wire", T on the tool, TH on the battery. Again, no go.

The box was tbh "open box", sitting on the shelf and the last one. Nothing appeared to be missing.

I could do with 3 working ones for me and two mates.

So in another store today, I found another 2 open box ones, bought them as well. This time there was a Parkside 4Ah battery sat on the side where it too had been taken out of it's box. I whacked it on both guns and each worked.

Tonight I've tried the 2 new guns on a Bosch battery, just + and - and again no go. These guns worked OK in store on the Parkside batteries.

My Makita and Bosch batteries here are all 3Ah. Can't see that's the issue?

Any ideas? Cheers.

I'd guess it could be the batteries internal protection kicking in, or the Parkside 4Ah battery does something different with the 3rd wire to signal the gun it's got the correct (large enough) battery fitted.

A hot air gun will use quite a bit of power, which probably exceeds the current limits of most normal batteries. Even with the 4Ah battery, I'd be surprised if you get much more than a few minutes heat, unless the airflow is low.
A typical cheap mains powered airgun is over 1000W, which at 20V would need 50A.

I was going to do some research of what's already available and what's missing to enable conversion for different tools and batteries, but time has been against me.

I might be able to get some research time back and a bit more learning on Fusion 360 in the next few weeks as we have a new seasonal site just 45 mins away instead of 2 and a half hours.
This together with a decluttered van layout concentrating on laptop if I can get A cheap EE pay as you go tariff with plenty of data. My Vodafone 4g is none existent in the van. Seems like EE is the only chance in that area. Lol

I keep thinking of you (not in that way!) I honestly can't remember what I started...and didn't finish. I know I was sending you test pieces? Something to do with Bosch...and Ryobi? I'll have to look back. Now I've multiple adapter projects on the go. I really must get more organised with file names etc so I can pick up where I left off after life gets in the way!

<edit> added the sketchup file. I made the minimum distance between centres 113mm (just in case) and thickened up the body.

Been working awesome mate. If anyone knows how to use sketchup my fusion has expired and I need a tab added to enable me to drop the back end and lower the angle of the blade. Similar to the image. Forgive my artistic endeavours. lol

I just need a shallower angle as the roofing felt I am cutting is harder now the temp has dropped.

I forgot to add it mate. which is probably good as I think the slot I have added will be in the wrong place. Lol I think as I lower the angle less blade will stick out and I need to lower the blade holder. so the slot I have added in the screen shot might need to be at the other end of the slot in the blade holder its self.

If I am reading this right, you're not going to be able to alter the depth AND the angle using slots.

To hack your existing design, you could fit a plate over those four through bolts and bolt the blade holder to some radially arranged positions in the plate.

Yeah I follow what you are saying. But the depth will be raised as the back goes down. Doing some holding against the bolts etc it looks like a curved slot will allow enough adjustment to do a proof of concept. As long as it started level with the TOP of the higher slot. (Not the bottom as I have tried to draw). So yes the height of blade will be fixed, but its currently mounted at the bottom of the slots.

Problem I have short term is the rail is fixxed so the stanley blade is exactly 275mm from the bottom stop on table.

Not really. Firstly if you have a curved slot it will need to pivot from the point of the blade or the height will change as it is rotated. You will need two curved slots. Secondly, there is no slot pattern which will allow you to change the angle and the depth. However if you separate the two motions by having a plate with its own set of angle adjustments you set the angle on that then change the depth on the linear slots.
