The size of nut for M10 depends on the standard being used. 16mm is a common size for flanged M10 nuts/bolts, but plain 16mm nuts do exist.
I do agree about M7 though.

The latest batches of Chinese nuts I've had seem the be neither A /F, metric or any other international standard .
I can't get a spanner in BA , BSF , Metric , BSP ,Whit , BSP or Gas etc to fit .. . I have a decent engineers range of old Britool ring & open jaw spanners as well as a big range of the A/F 7 BSF sockets & a full set of Hazet metrics from 3.5 mm to 27 mm in sockets & roj's & de/ off set rings.
To save rounding nuts &bolt heads off I've had to resort to using an angle grinder to open up the jaws of several old various sized spanners so I can get decent fit .
I don't like using adjustable spanners as I'm an engineer

Ok guys maybe a bad time to ask but hey how.
I need to increase the exterior wall thickness on a bracket.
It was designed for a 30mm rail so I rescaled it to fit a 10mm rail.
This has meant the thickness is too thin and it snaps on the bend.
How do I increase the external size in cura..

You can't, you can only scale the whole thing as you have. To edit it, you need to load it back into a 3D editor. Most of them will accept an .stl file.

Not difficult to recreate from scratch and design for 10mm, but your easiest solution might be to design an adaptor sleeve 30mm - 10mm

I have been trying to mod an stl file in fusion.... can load it, but cant edit.. following youtube tutorials, my menu's dont have the optons they show...

Design Spark Mechanical will load it as thousands of facets. You can convert them to solid but it warns you about doing it. Small items seem to be OK but anything else slows my very fast computer to a crawl and locks it up until the conversion is done.
Fusion quite recently had some quite major rework done to the Surface and Mesh environments, so any videos more than a few months old are likely to have some noticeable differences.
Plus Fusion isn't the ideal software for working with Surfaces/Meshes anyway. It does do it, but not very well especially when trying to edit an imported model.

Actually what I sometimes do in Cura is to "distort" an item. If you switch off "snap", you can alter all three dimensions independently, which just might help with your issue?
