Pretty pleased with the prototype!

Next time we'll "iron" the top surface to make it smoother. Not strictly necessary as it'll be hidden for ever more:

Two screw holes need to be moved as they clash with internal ribs within thd grinder base but it fits. Screwed on with 4x30 Goldscrews.

Just realised we can move the Makita section up by 5mm saving material and print time and meaning you'll see less adapter.

This one is workable though. Onto making the connector plates next!

Yep, Anycubic i3 Mega S here.

We still have to play with settings. Mate has an Ender 3 and I'm quite impressed with the quality of his prints in comparison.

What's the DeWalt adapter done in, PLA?

Yup, in PLA.

I got given some decent settings that seem to work pretty well. I can send them to you with some install instructions if you'd like?

I considered an Ender 3 Pro but I managed to get the Mega 3 for almost the same money and from what I've gathered just works better straight out of the box.

My lad has been working up some little connectors for tidying up WAGO blocks for me. Think he's looking at writing a script to auto generate whatever combination. This is a 3+2+3+5. They clip in and out just about right imo:

Me, for one - I used to have one of their 18V drills with 2 batteries. Lasted me for years and only recently gave up the ghost when the batteries would no longer hold charge. For the price I paid [not a lot] I couldn't fault it.

Have you still got the old drill? What platform do you use now (say Makita as less work for me ). If it's 18V we could get it going again with an adapter.

I appreciate the offer, but I passed it [just one battery still held charge briefly] to a mate who thought it'd do for his purposes, with a battery left permanently on charge. He doesn't do much DIY

I kept the alloy case to be 'repurposed' at some future time/date

This is the base of a (red) Champion 18V cordless circular saw, note the black dot I've made with a Sharpie.

It is almost identical to the Marksman jigsaw but where the black dot is it's radiused.

On the Marksman it's square:

The batteries on these two are pretty much interchangeable.

So v2 of the Makita to Rolson 18V Adapter has just finished printing and is cooling on the bed. That sorts the grinder:

The Makita to Marksman/Champion 18V Adapter is up next for printing the prototype insert before joining with the Makita section. Glad I can kill two birds with one stone to sort the jigsaw and circular saws.

I am really NOT looking forward to measuring up for the Makita to Performance Power 18V Adapter, this is for the hedge trimmer. All horrible curves and bosses to work round. Plus the tool plastic seems a bit brittle tbh!

So 3 designs to fit 4 tools.

Nah! Makita will be rubbing their hands as it'll probably screw up the batteries!

Must look more into where the battery protection is.

The battery protection is in the battery. When it senses the battery voltage is low, a MOSFET cuts off the supply to the tool.

That was the problem with the older Makita batteries (non-star). The monitoring was only on one cell instead of the whole lot.

Every Makita tool I have seen has just two prongs on the tool itself. The other (6-pin?) connector on the battery never connects to the tool. It is purely so the battery and charger can talk to each other.

Should have one of these printed tomorrow. Will be the last one until more PLA gets delivered.

Hoping over the next couple of days to knock up battery tabs o/of 1mm sheet and get a couple of tools hard wired and running on the Makita batteries. Will video it.
