I have just purchased a Boxford Lathe

Were they not bakerlite or something on the boxford.
Or was that just the covers.
Felts great. Holds oil and lubricates as you move. Guess your link keeps the swarf out. Might be possible to get some felt behind then

The cover is metal not sure what is behind yet I will take one off tomorrow and look yes I like the felt behind to keep the slide oiled

No, they were always felt. Some guy on eBay started that Bakelite story to justify selling 3d printed solid wipers.

I reakon I can get a piece of felt cut and wedged under these printed ones

Wipers - easy enough to make yourself. I made some for my 280 out of thin stainless sheet and felt. They used to be plastic but get very brittle and Boxford have gone back to felt for them.

I was looking at felt on ebay last night actually. I just to pop one off and check out what type of felt it is and the thickness

No, they're screw-down greasers. You're supposed to give them a turn every week or so. Similar to this

ah i see the type u fill with grease like the ones on the motor bearings

Not if it's full. Hydraulics at work. Would assume you pump grease in first to fill the tube then pack the pot and twist occasionally

The whole drilling is filled so it's just like squeezing toothpaste from a tube.
