I have just purchased a Boxford Lathe

what do you class as upstream? the power comes via a 16amp commando plug to the dol then right now it goes to the motor no reverse switch. i need to take the feed from the dol to the switch first

4 wires plus earth, 2 for each winding - three to the motor side of the switch, one back to the incoming neutral from the isolator or whatever upstream of the switch.

Brown and blue to one winding, red and black to the other - I left the earth out as any damn fool nose it needs one
And the blue joins the incoming blue neutral

Not with the right fuse you won't, the rating you want isn't 0BA Brass....

ha the motor is earthed the switch wont be it is all plastic

Not with the right fuse you won't, the rating you want isn't 0BA Brass....

the fuse is er there aint one its on a 16amp commando plug the dol will shut off at 5amps though

hang on i think i get it now so only the red and black get reversed when the switched is reveresed?

Perfect, the overload's there to stop you burning the motor!

oh man that took longer than expected! i need to remove the motor the and seperate out the windings and run some extra wires

I try to make it look pro - I've a few feet spare of 4 plus earth Syflex (with the steel loose braid between cable and outer jacket) if it's any use to you?

Saying that, it's probably cost more to post if you've a CEF or similar near you that sells by the metre...

that would be great, TBH you will not see the cable unless you open the door as it will all be behind the stand apart from a few inches

That's the travelling steady and fixed steady. Face plates and T slotted table de rusted and oiled ready for use. What is the small round thing with the one bolt through it

It's a catch plate. Used for driving the workpiece when turning between centres.
