ok i am in a dilemma about the roof

this is the story

the sheets I piched up are onlt 3.4m so I thought rather than lap them I would do a dual pitched roof but with one side longer than the other.
how easy/hard is this going to be for me to get right?

cheers mate tyhe wind was a cooling addition! its going be hotter tomorrow, early start get half way then go out for a ride on the horses I think. finish the block work Wednesday, gotta work Tuesday and then collect some more roof sheets

Be far easier to just lap the sheets. Decent over lap and a bead of silicone between them if you roof is fairly flat, to stop rain blowing up.

the spec for the sheets is 4 degree min pitch so 2.5m one side and 2.2m the other will be just over 4 degrees

how much more work/harder would it be to make it a dual pitch roof?

if anything its easier to a degree

i wouldnt advise you to do 2 different sizes of pitch it looks so odd and wouldnt look right

however saying that it does look ok when one part is higher than the other

theres 2 ways you can do a pitch roof one you use a birdsmouth or you leave it whole and allow it over your wall

then you need a ceiling joist to stop the woods spliting apart

smaller wood joists can be used instead of loverly thick ones 9x2s or 9x3s due to length



has extra strengtheners in due to its length

If you are going to those lengths, I always fancied a Clerestory style roof on a shed. Lets in lots of light and leaves all the walls free for shelves, hanging fixtures etc.

its a proper mish mash mate, the lower level is engeneering bricks then solids the top course will be thermilities. They were all free thats why, if I was buying them solids all the way! they will be ok wont they?

If your going to render or dash them they suck water faster that a camel and come winter they become blocks of ice..not my choice for a garden feature tbh

actually the mrs wants the clad plan was to batton then clad with ship lap or similar maybe even decking boards not sure yet
