Not so much what I made today, but what I did today....

Test fitted the gate to establish where the catch tab needs to be - progress has been delayed by a) builders working round the house for almost 2 months [ ] re-harling, b) my not being well with a bug [twice] and needing a/biotics to shift it, and c) the weather being too cold and damp to sensibly have a go at painting it. It's coming along...slowly

It's a # 2 viewed from the 'resident' side.

SBF would look like a cattle branding iron from the Ponderosa [in case you're too young to remember that http://gocalifornia.about.com/od/calaketahoe/ss/Ponderosa-Ranch-Bonanza-at-Lake-Tahoe.htm ], and besides,I don't have a plasma cutter....

and poor little joe always managed to score with the decent birds at the end and then they had to either leave or they were ill and died

Finished. Blade needs to be replaced as it has bean badly ground in the past.
It taken and edge, so the plane is set up for fine finishing on hard woods.



The parts were not that badly rusted, but a few hours in the heated de-rusting tank.


From that to this.



The wooden handles needed 3 egg cups of linseed oil to get them buffed up.

I think I will, looks to be a decent set up and I can pop along on days off.

Ok, compared to what others can weld and turn up, this is small fry.

It is a charcoal and coke burner. It is to allow me to access how my home made stuff burns.
1/2 a fire extinguisher, some scrap off cuts and coffee.

It needs to be burnt out to remove the lining and the paint, one good fire will sort that out.

Well I burnt it tonight, using a mix of my charcoal and coke.
It burns very well, the heat soon had the lining melting and the paint off.

Sorry, but it is dark and the picture is just flames.
