Mixed jobs today, all of which were good fun. I did a bit of sandblasting and used the wire brush machine to clean this monster buttress thread from my Record 53A. Then I turned a new handle for this garden fork out of ash, before fitting it to the fork which had also been sandblasted. Finally I did some turning, re-knurling the knobs from the belt guard on the Fobco

It’s got a first coat of Briwax on but I’ll give it another go later once the first gas fed the timber

Next is a custom lego /knex storage boxes on casters to fit fully under a double bed.
Probably gonna be drawers so the tops can be used as tables.

One im going to pinch has a different hinge design. Two round circles and a dog leg so the stringers never meet.

Made this , 2 old drum pallets and an old fully rivetted tank , jet washed all the bits and made to be a self supporting tight fit , total cost, zero pence Man cave now painted , need to finish the floor with paint or carpet tiles , monitoring gumtree etc for these, the 2 lazy boy chairs were free , a bit beige looking for suitable throws.Got a 6x 6 x 14 inch block of English walnut which is being planed up to make a chunky lamp base.

With reference to the above post.


Good news.

After a few weeks of hard work by 2 Men in Shed members and the total cost outlay of £12 we have this to show for their hard work.



That after paint stripping.

The unwanted holes were filled with filler and sanded back.

The hex head unit. The lid was damaged, but a kind friend "tig" the damaged good and a few minutes with a burr in a drill, a wipe of filler all was good.



Pianted and drying in the sun.
To be honest the paint is not the best. But it will do. After all they are happy.



The Hex head, in my vice being electrically tested.




Square head unit, about to be electorally tested.

Both needed the earth circuit redone, simple mistakes. But easily sorted.

Total cost, £12. That was for the paint (cheep) and 2 bayonet lamp fixings.

This is your fault.
Not that I am blaming you.



A rubble shovel. Nothing special. But I found out the handle was riddled with worm.
It made a good fire starter.
So a bit of hickory, old axe handle, time on a lathe. My friend ground a bit of carbon steel to make the finger grip indentation on the handle. I watched and drank coffee.

This will be used for the garden fire pit.
Along side this 36" poker.



Handle is a bit of beech, metal ferrell some odd and old pipe fitting.
The main part was recycled from a old stay from a farm bailer.

Why did I make a poker?
I had the gas kit out tempering the old long chisel and it was there and I had a hammer.
